I worked at University of Wisconsin-Madison part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Heavy emphasis on work/life balance and growing as a student employee. I felt like I was being prepared for whatever future career or work I was going into.

    Cons

Sometimes the culture can be a little immature due to being in a college environment. However, this isn't unusual and doesn't destroy the experience.

I have been working at University of Wisconsin-Madison part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The catering and bartending parts of the job are super easy, and shifts usually go by pretty quickly. You just need a decent amount of common sense to get by.

    Cons

Often overstaffed, but that goes along with a university job

    Advice to Management

    none

I have been working at University of Wisconsin-Madison (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible and understanding management, good working conditions.

    Cons

Often times bureaucracy would get in the way for no reason. For some schools we were supposed to support we had no ability to look into their accounts, and other cases we could not add customers to the wifi because a different department wanted the revenue and wouldn't let us both handle the service.

I worked at University of Wisconsin-Madison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The working conditions as a TA are decent. Tuition remission is the best part of the deal. The students are generally bright and decently motivated. I enjoyed working with my fellow grad students.

    Cons

The general pay is not great. Madison is increasingly expensive, and the stipend is not really enough to live off very easily. You are always subject to the whims of faculty, who can be out of it and unreasonable. Public support for higher ed in Wisconsin seems to be going down the drain.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Let us chill when we get everything done
