I worked at University of the Incarnate Word full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great location. Very good staff. Students are hungry for a challenge if you find the right way to motivate them.

    Cons

I worked in the Bio department. It was the most dysfunctional place I have ever been associated with. Terrible communication. Back stabbing. People afraid of your efforts making them look bad for how little they actually get done.

    Advice to Management

Support your junior faculty. They are the ones bringing in the research money and moving the university into the future.

    Pros

The environment is wonderful. The stated mission is admirable. Great benefits but the salaries are low for San Antonio - hence only two stars for "Compensation & Benefits."

    Cons

Low paying. Technologically stunted. Poor systems in place.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your people competitive salaries.

I worked at University of the Incarnate Word (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Incarnate Word allowed my to go to school and work at the same time. I really would recommend working here overall benefits were good for part-time employees.

    Cons

Constant Construction. There was also a severe lack of parking during the school year and that would really put a strain on getting to work on time. I would sometimes have to work on weekends also but that was sort of to be expected.
