    Fun environment, Ambitious co-workers, opportunity for learning

    They do not pay workers on time, contracts take a long time to get processed

    I worked at University of the West Indies part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    I love sports so it was great to work in an area that I have full appreciation for, and I also got to learn the inner workings of the Sports department. Both the difficulty and satisfaction of putting together sporting events and conducting a successful event, dealing with athletes and managing the sporting facilities in terms of bookings and payment for facility usage.

    Hours were a bit short.

    I have been working at University of the West Indies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    The benefits and resources at your disposal (once you know how to work the system) are pretty good and will work to your advantage professionally and otherwise.

    Cons

    The politics on campus can be a lot to take in because everyone has an agenda. On top of that many of the people and systems in place are prehistoric (so to speak) and are unwilling to change (without a lot of convincing and strong arming).
