I have been working at Uno Restaurants full-time

    Pros

    Very high standards for service.

    Cons

There are a lot of servers who have been there for years, so you won't be able to get a good section for serving until you have been there for a while.

I worked at Uno Restaurants part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Close-knit staff, consistent and flexible scheduling, never boring, teaches you great speaking/customer service skills.

    Cons

Poor execution of core responsibilities and values, constant understaffing, too-frequent turnover, poor crisis management

    Advice to Management

Actually think the day through before making rash decisions because you're tired of hearing the staff complaining. If we're facing a Saturday dinner rush, don't put a brand-new server in the most popular section and only give her 2 out of the 6 tables that can be seated so that someone else gets over-seated. Stop cutting people way too early; I get people want to go home, but on Friday and Saturday nights we still have customers coming through the door even after the worst rush is over. We still need people to take care of them.
Also, I know you guys are crazy busy yourselves trying to juggle supporting your direct staff & complying with your own higher-ups' commands, but make us feel like you're actually there for us and can be a legit resource to help us do our jobs better. You know better than anyone the restaurant business is rewarding but can be incredibly awful...certainly keep up with constructive criticism, but don't be stingy with praise.
