I have been working at Untracht Early full-time

    Pros

    salary snacks office location pencils

    Cons

It's a terrible place to work. Not enough people to service the clients. management only cares about bottom line and can be erratic. In the last 18 months they have lost 3 of the best partners and more than a dozen senior managers and managers along with countless staff/admin.

    Advice to Management

    retire

I have been working at Untracht Early full-time

    Pros

    1. Make great friends.
    2. Snacks and drinks provided during busy season.
    3. Plenty of parking.
    4. Summer Friday Hours

    Cons

    1. Unfortunately, you make great friends due to the amount of hours you work during busy season. Busy season is for most of the year now.
    2. Compensation and bonuses are not based on the service you provide and not that great. It is not worth the time you spend away from family and friends.
    3. Promotions are not based on the service you provide. It is based on either the years you have been there or who you are favored by.
    4. They are all of a sudden so concerned with making sure you make your billable hours for each month. If there is a month you don't make it you are sent an email and need to provide answers as to why you didn't make it.
    5. Normally there are no compliments received from upper management. There are very very few who do give compliments.
    6. They will find someone within the firm to write a position review to contradict what is written in this one.

    Advice to Management

The firm has been changing and not for the good. They are more concerned with bringing in additional money for themselves. If there is new work that comes in (partnership return, audit work, family office work) which can lead to additional individual tax work for high net worth clients, they are taking the service away from their older loyal clients for the new ones. They do not care if they have enough employees to take on the additional work. The firm would rather put the additional stress on the current employees to take on the new work plus the current work that they have on their plate.

    Cons

    That i wasn't here longer.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. You've built a great firm.

I worked at Untracht Early full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Awesome people with a really good company culture
    -Open door policy with management
-People are always available to help

    Cons

-The different departments have a gap in communication but often work on the same clients
-Audit department communication within engagement teams, during busy season it is hard to go back to lower staff to explain mistakes and help them learn, upper level usually just makes edits and continues through engagements themselves (which is good for the engagement timeline and bad for the learning curve)
-If you work in the NYC office you are on your own island

    Advice to Management

-Be mindful that although we are all team players to get things out the door, there needs to be more communication and learning through the process so we can all grow as professionals
-Be more open to incentives and credit when it's due, public accounting is stressful!

I have been working at Untracht Early full-time

    Pros

The people are great across all departments and levels.
Flexibility, ample vacation time and competitive salary.
Ability to gain experience across service lines.
Recent improvements made by those in charge to better address current criticisms.

    Cons

Poor and inconsistent firm wide top down communication and slow reaction to staff concerns.
In the past, management has been slow to promote and would not provide feedback consistent with decisions but that appears to be changing for the better quickly.
Lack of availability of those in charge.

    Advice to Management

As great as the firm has been, it can continue to improve and strengthen. Don't become complacent in your initiative to improve communication, listen to the staff and promote based on merit.

I have been working at Untracht Early full-time

    Pros

    location, nice office, good food

    Cons

Manipulative management has written reviews-check out dates- after asking the staff and getting negative ones. They called a meeting to ask to be taken down . This is not a pleasant work environment but their slow to promote and lack of good experience makes it difficult for those looking for jobs to find one. Many unhappy people and there is a cloud of stress hanging over the office as people are expected to work 80-100 hours a week a third of the year during the deadlines.

    Advice to Management

you will never change...future looks unpromising

I worked at Untracht Early full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Honestly, I've known these people for the better part of 20 years and I worked with them both as an employee and outside using them as advisers. I've never known a company that cares more about its people more than Untracht Early. Public accounting is a tough business - accounting, tax, and the world of finance is not getting easier. UE balances the workload with tons of benefits, social functions, training, and not to mention good pay. The people are smart and they know how to handle alternative investments (hedge funds) and high net worth individuals/families better than any accounting firm out there. In my personal opinion, they are better than big 4 and other top 10 regional firms who service clients in this space - and I say this from having worked closely with just about every one of those bigger firms. Great place to work - the firm has built careers and lives for their staff - kids start out as young accountants and either stay with the firm for many years or move on to have productive careers elsewhere.

    Cons

    Nothing really bad to say.
