I have been working at Unum full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, opportunity to work from home in most departments, programs for leadership and development.

    Cons

Middle management needs work. Many managers are overworked and stressed, lack empathy, and have their own agendas. There are some good ones and not so good ones. It's really luck of the draw.

    Advice to Management

People leave managers, not jobs. Take care of your people that work so hard for you.

I worked at Unum full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great benefits, Good managers, team work is great

    Cons

Salary, senior management and up keep changing, off shore business partners

    Advice to Management

Level of responsibility ( pushing numbers) for salary is not great, Senior Management Level keeps changing and with that you never know if you will have a position these days. Quit outsourcing it is causing so much stress for your employees!

I worked at Unum full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great benefits. The culture they say they WANT is amazing and it can be found in pockets (IT is not one of those pockets). There are lots of jobs and opportunity (if you can compartmentalize the stress).

    Cons

IT can be a hostile environment (which definitely impacts work/life balance). The company has been in a constant state of constraint and outsourcing of IT and business jobs for 3-5 years. The CEO's support of the IT CIO/CDO is either oblivious or crudely tactical. Both are unfortunate. No coordination between leaders to achieve common and/or prioritized goals makes it impossible to be successful.

    Advice to Management

There is a problem in IT and it starts at the top. It seems like everyone knows it and it appears as though nothing is being done about it. If there is, it's taking too long. If everything is a priority, nothing is a priority. Coordinate strategies!
