This is a dead-end job that you settle for, not aspire to achieve.

Nov 29, 2022 - New Account Specialist in San Francisco, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Covered Health, Dental, Vision, and Life benefits (every other tech company has this). Office Space is on par with other tech companies. Coworkers, Management, and HR at least pretend to care for you. Snacks are stocked sparingly

    Cons

Complete rug pull. Was told inbound calls were temporary. Instead went from 2 hours of inbounds to 6 hours a day (Arizona pushed for the San Francisco team to be 8 hours a day, but due to pushback they settled on 6). Expected to do 2 jobs at the same time (taking forced, auto-answered inbound calls while reviewing applications - cannot focus). This is just a job, not a career - leadership expects attrition. The only advancement is management. Micromanagement galore - tracks your computer clicks at all seconds of the day, tracks your adherence to a schedule (using the restroom negatively impacts your scorecard, and tracks your phone calls. The rest of the company looks down on the New Accounts department even though they are the lifeblood of the company.

    Business Outlook

    Pros

-Gain technical skills -Exposure to new asset class -Gain start-up experience -Good pay, but starting to question if it is worth it

    Cons

-Long hours (standard is 10 hour days on a good day) It does not matter what time you log on, you will wake up and go to sleep when there is no light outside -Head of team is a micro manager and nit picks at everyones work (questionable on how much work he is actually doing, never helps team out but is always lurking or "writing queries") -No team culture -No one trusts each other -Head of team seems to turn team members on one another and bad mouth others -Exhausting work that never ends and leadership does nothing to make our days better -work life balance does not exist, so be aware before you join us- month end close means you will work weekends (holiday or not)

    Cons

Can be a little tricky to navigate when you first start, could have a more cohesive onboarding process.

    Great Work Environment, Awesome People

May 15, 2017 - Customer Support Representative in San Francisco, CA

    Pros

This company is great! Upgrade, Inc. is a stealth mode start-up, full of amazing people. The Executive Management team is brilliant; they really value their employees and the ideas that they bring to the table. They are also very approachable, down-to-earth individuals, which is what makes this company different. You aren't made to feel intimidated by job titles, levels of experience, etc. In terms of the customer support department, I am thoroughly excited to come to work everyday knowing that I have the ability to build and create processes that improve workflow efficiency for the team, and ultimately, the company. What is phenomenal about this department is that your managers will always listen to your ideas, and will work with you to get it implemented into the workflow. They will ALWAYS give you credit for the work that you do! I've never felt more empowered in a workplace. Our product is also amazing because we're actually helping people get out of debt. If you're upbeat and have a genuine interest in helping individuals improve their overall credit health by getting out of debt, customer support is the place to be. In terms of the perks, we have monthly company happy hours, a fully stocked kitchen with a coffee/espresso machine, a ping pong table, a Nintendo 64 game console, bean bag chairs, and more! They are currently remodeling offices in both Phoenix and San Francisco, and I know they will both be beautiful because they have great taste! I'm excited for my future with Upgrade. I know we're headed to the top!

    Cons

I do not have any cons at this time.
