I worked at Upper Valley Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with like-wise people who want to do the right thing for the patient. Working the floor with people who try to support each other.

    Cons

Senior and middle management. Staff afraid to tell management their concerns; short staffed, work harder not smarter-yes it was meant to be said like that; CNO does not care about floor nurses. Obvious they have been getting rid of staff who are 50 years old or older.

    Advice to Management

You will lose good staff because of the way you treat them and the patient care suffers because the staff do not have upper and middle management support.

I worked at Upper Valley Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are so nice and supportive. You would not survive without them to help you out. Nice facilities. Great teamwork.

    Cons

HR doesn't represent you, they only represent management. TOP for Holidays/Sick Days, Management needs upgraded. Not safe on units. No educational opportunities for those other then nurses. Not open to new ideas. Not flexible with time off around holidays or special events.

    Advice to Management

    Recognize your employees, be understanding.

    Pros

They have Reasonable health insurance rates.

    Cons

Severely underpaid for all job responsibilities. Inappropriate job titles so they can justify paying you less. You do many tasks that are the supervisor's because they are never on sight. Never any opportunities to advance.
