I have been working at Upromise full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedules and the ability to work from home as needed are two of the best reasons to work at Upromise/Sallie Mae.
Among the others, you'll meet some really nice people who are passionate about what they are doing.

    Cons

The company is process heavy that can be very frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Decide what the business is and focus on it.

    Pros

The office culture for Upromise has a good vibe, lots of passionate and smart people driving towards a common goal of helping families save for college. Good flexibility and work/life balance for those who are hard workers and can get their work done. Nice office environment with ongoing efforts to show employee appreciation.

    Cons

Management and strong leadership is lacking. Upromise is still trying to find their place within the corporate Sallie Mae entity and has succumbed to a more corporate structure and processes. There are a lot of starts and stops on projects and shifting of priorities, resources and decisions from the management teams which slows down achievements and leaves the "workers" feeling unsatisfied and unaccomplished.

I worked at Upromise full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Office culture was wonderful, nothing to corporate but still structured enough. Great work life balance and they gave people the freedom to know when they needed to get stuff done rather than always micromanaging.

    Cons

There was a lack of focus on management when I was there. It seemed like the goals shifted on a weekly basis. It could have been more of Sallie Mae than Upromise directly

    Advice to Management

Focus on a few things and do them well rather than changing all the time
