    Pros

While it would probably be expected that I would list the discount as the overall best reason to work at Urban Outfitters, I'm more inclined personally to say that the overall best reason to work at Urban Outfitters is the work atmosphere. It has by far exceeded my expectations as the perfect part time job. The management is friendly and encouraging, a varied group of different personalities, styles and lives. While some may dislike our store manager for his rather difficult to adjust to strict attitude, I'd hope that someone in such a position would have such values. My coworkers have been pleasant to work with, as management has an eye for those who would not only fit in personally but also work hard at the job. Not only that, but they also allow even sales associate to give their assessment of potential employees, and give their opinions that are (GASP) actually considered! This fact is baffling to some, as Urban Outfitters is actually a store that respects and considers the opinions of it's employees. The starting pay for someone with not much retail experience is pretty nice also, and should be sufficient for those looking for a good part time job.

    Cons

Management is willing to give chances to applicants and give them the benefit of doubt, and this kindness sometimes allows for the less than preffered individual to slip through and get hired. This is especially true at times when a store is very busy, and anyone who has been to urban outfitters knows that it can be quite a high traffic store on varying days. Because of this, management may lower their standards slightly, which results in the hiring of those who dont exactly reflect the idea the store is trying to portray, and does not live up to the standards we would normally uphold. It becomes frustrating to try helping someone who simply wants to get the day over with and collect their paycheck without doing their job to the best of their ability, as management is very forgiving with chances and does not single people out when scrutinizing the work enviroment to see who is doing their job and who is not.

    Advice to Management

Continue doing what you're doing. As hard as it is adapting to the change from a calmer atmosphere to such a busy one, you've done a good job so far. The only criticism I would give is for you to extend the friendlier side of your personality more often, and attempt to integrate that into your criticisms and suggestions. They can often come off as harsh even when you do not realize it, resulting in employees feeling scolded rather than being advised and guided. Though this is not a criticism that makes you a bad store manager, it does make it sometimes difficult for employees to see you in a favorable light and boost morale.

    Cons

Spending all of your paycheck on merchandise!

    Pros

Great discount. Management is very flexible with your schedule. People are creative and exposure to new upcoming designers.

    Cons

Employee attitudes are often "too cool".

    Advice to Management

The store has a laid back vibe and so should you. Get your projects done and enjoy working in a fun environment while listening to great music.

    Pros

Amazing, most out of the this word home office campus. Most creative and talented people I've ever worked with.

    Cons

Can feel like being at the hipster night club while trying to do work.

    Advice to Management

It's OK to not be part of the customer base in order to work in buying or in business matters. Sometimes the office needs just that - hard working nerds, not just stylish fashionistas.

    Pros

Excellent company to grow with. I learned a lot
Wish I never left. Hoping to work for Urban again
    In the future

    Cons

The main downside is pay for the part timers. It
Was difficult to keep a staff without paying them
    More than what Urban wanted.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. Always remember that
It takes everyone in the building to make a
Wonderful store, not just the mgrs

    Pros

40% off of all apparel, 25% off furniture and things
    Really laid back atmoshphere
Wear whatever you want to, and now tattoos

    Cons

    Low pay, little hours
Always a shoplifter trying to steal
Super go-hard on loss prevention issues
The graphic tee-shirt table folded to excellence every night

    Advice to Management

Be sure to pay more attention to your employees and try to cut hours less, alot of employees work hard for the hours you never provide

I have been working at Urban Outfitters part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Its in downtown and you get introduced into the nightlife and the people included in it.

    Cons

The parking in downtown is horrible especially on the weekend and having to deal with homeless and drunk people

I have been working at Urban Outfitters full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-starting pay of $8.00 (.75 cents above my states minimum wage)
-you work hard and you immediately see how it pays off
    -great coworkers & amazing management
    -laid back environment
    -no dress code
    -AMAZING discount

    Cons

-The only main con is that if you're closing, you have to stay 2-3 hours past closing time to make the store look pristine and perfect again. Once in a while, the store will do "perfect closes"- where the store is literally impeccable, and you could easily be there until 3 AM.
-Also, if you think that by working retail you won't have to get up early, you are sorely mistaken. Openers get there anywhere from 5 am-8 am, even though the store opens at 10.

    Advice to Management

Honestly.. can't think of how I could do it any better.
