I worked at VALDEZ INTERNATIONAL (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits were good, and I even got an annual bonus after I put in my 2 week notice that I was resigning to move out of state.

    Cons

I don't recall if I had any paid time off. I probably did, but I didn't use it since I would just go out of town to visit family on the weekends. We did a rotating on-call roster, which I occasionally got woken up in the middle of the night but we supported a 24/7 data center for the military so that was just part of the deal.

    Advice to Management

I was happy to be working for Valdez. I think they paid us a bit better than our counterparts that were working for General Dynamics IT doing the exact same job.

I worked at VALDEZ INTERNATIONAL full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Have plenty of time to work on other certificauions. Flexable, Work at your own pace. Great Place to get basic data center process understood. Great place to network. The cream rises to the top and the cream gets pick up!

    Cons

Lots of work to do, However you will find that there is direction from leadership and no drive from the current employees to do any of the work. Nothing ever gets done unless the military lead requests something to get down. Even then only 10% of the work will be completed until asked again from military lead. If your Idea is of a great job is one that can let you do absolutely nothing , this is the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Needs leadership bad. Right now there is none. I have never seen a job requiremt list while working under this contract. Needs real leadership thats not afraid to work.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at VALDEZ INTERNATIONAL full-time

    Pros

They pay on time. OK if you need to get your foot in the Government Door and get your clearance, then start looking for something else.

    Cons

The Program Manager is completely out of touch with IT and does not understand how to hire quality people because of his lack of IT knowledge. The fact of the matter is he vividly reflects the lack of talent identification and fitment analysis skills. The turn over rate is HIGH. This is because under qualified people are being hired to save money. They become frustrated and leave, or the worst ones stay and don't leave.

    Advice to Management

The problems can be fixed by replacing the Program Manager. He wears a Teflon coat and places blame on people other than himself. He has even been reported to the JAG!

I worked at VALDEZ INTERNATIONAL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I guess it beats being unemployed...but the pay won;t be much better.

    Cons

I worked for this company on a contract in the St Louis area. The PM is the worst I have ever experienced, disconnected from reality, and not at all equipped to handle a leadership role. Salary negotiation will be like getting a root canal,,,a painful experience that resulted in you wishing you didn't have to go through it. The PM acts as if your salary will be coming from their own account. DO NO expect to be paid what you are worth, or you will be disappointed. This company still uses the Vacation, and sick hour accrual system. BEWARE if you have sick hours, and you turn in a 2 week notice, you WILL NOT BE COMPENSATED for any sick time you have accrued, nor will you be able to use them, even though YOU earned them.

    Advice to Management

This PM isn't qualified to run a shift at McDonald's. Practices the "It isn't my fault..." style of leadership.
