I have been working at VCA (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You are able to grow and advance within the company if you really worked for it and not expect it to be handed to you. I was able to support my family on salary. 401k and life insurance gave me peace of mind.

    Cons

Employees not team members are a constant burden that leads to a hostile work environment with junior high behaviours

    Advice to Management

For internal Mgt actually work within the entire team. Terminate the non team members and listen not react. Corporate Mgt terminate your non team managers and associate veterinarians.

I have been working at VCA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

supportive managers, opportunities to learn new things, clean work environment, the company has a genuine interest in helping you be the best you can by giving you responsibility, once you show you deserve it.

    Cons

Corporate environment means you have to push their product, occasionally tight on overtime so you may be understaffed at times, takes a long time to get rid of underperforming employees, historically lower salary than private hospitals

    Advice to Management

Pay your technicians more, offer different perks such as paying for new sneakers each year, build in same day spots into the schedule so when an emergency presents the scheduled clients don't have to wait too long.

    Pros

I loved this job! I was able to care for and play with dogs for a good portion of my day. My coworkers were wonderful, my managers were understanding, and everyone was there to help one another. The techs were always eager to teach and assist you whenever needed.

    Cons

There was a lot of cleaning involved, sometimes not for those with weak stomachs. What can you expect, you're in an animal hospital!
