I worked at VCU Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great place to work-believes in Work Life / Family Life equally important. Very supportive and encouraging for further education.

    Cons

Parking in the area was available, but seemed to always have issues (spaces too small). This was handled by other companies and not by VCU Health.

    Advice to Management

Try to find a location where E Franklin Street employees could exercise.

I have been working at VCU Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a great place to begin a career as a Biomed Tech, especially right out of school or as a doorway to transition from a similar field. Also, most Biomed jobs around require you to be on call for a week at a time. At VCU, you're on call 3 separate days or one weekend per month.

    Cons

There aren't enough Biomed Techs to handle the amount of work that needs to be done. Some levels of management are not proficient at there jobs and have been the cause of many techs leaving in the past 5 years.

    Advice to Management

Quit giving special treatment to your friends. It creates a hostile work environment, it upsets the other employees you manage, and causes good techs to leave. Hire more techs and ease the work load for the rest. It would also be nice if management would stick up for Biomed and not let the rest of the hospital walk all over them.
