    Pros

Not many I can think of. Pto and vacation was reasonable. They were easy to grant vacation time when requested.

    Cons

The executive management on down needs a lot of work. They talk a good game, but can they do any better. There is a lot of racism and favoritism. You are not helping the company by listening to hearsay and not looking at what your employees are capable of and what they have done for this company.

    Advice to Management

    Always encourage employees
and hire competent management at all levels.

    Pros

Fast paced working environment with many rewarding challenges.

    Cons

Excessive micromanagement, favoritism, upper management likes to play mind games with employees by pitting one against the other.

    Advice to Management

None; You haven't been able to take care of your employees for a long time. I'm guessing you enjoy making people's lives miserable.

    Pros

Can make your own flexible schedule. The management team has changed so there is now hope.

    Cons

Healthcare is the worst. You have to pay a lot of high out-of-pocket and deductible is high. You are expected to work on holidays, including major holidays. High pressure sales in very competitive environments. They give a higher salary but it is only so you can pay for your health insurance. Market is oversaturated and many hospitals, facilities and physicians are contracted with and will only work with certain hospices. After training there is little to no support given. Senior management is not very helpful, highly critical and does not recognize success. Management expects you to be disease state proficient on day one and high level conversations but that doesn't work and isn't they way to get new business in this highly competitive market. Expect pharma type reps but the pay isn't equivalent.

    Advice to Management

Work with your Account Managers to develop strategic plans and have goals that are realistic. Recognize successes and be encouraging to your reps.

I worked at VITAS Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with Families and Patients is rewarding.

    Cons

Very poor management and HR is horrible. Manager, HR and CEO stick together, they do not back you up at all! They do not give raises, they work you to the point where you are stressed and sick all the time. They also write you up for the dumbest things, they do not value any employees for any of the hard work you do. HR speaks behind your back as well as your manager. You are either in the "clique" or not, if you aren't , they make your life hell. The pay is okay but the deductible for insurance is horrible. The nurse turn over rate is really high. They do not care if you have worked there for over 22 years, they just fire you or make you quit. Do not work for this company. Oh and it is still paper charting, so good luck with that.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so political, start thinking about your employees well being. Give employees raises and room to grow within the company. Don't make your employees use their PTO for holidays.

I worked at VITAS Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Working with patients and their families can be very rewarding.

    Cons

Training is poor, lots of work for minimal pay, have to use PTO for holidays, insurance is horrible!!!! Very disorganized, and inefficient procedures that have employees doing double work. Peep are constantly quitting due to management conflict.

    Advice to Management

Streamline your training program, offer better, more cost effective insurance for your employees - A 5000.00 deductible for one person is outrageous for the salary that is offered!!! Paid holidays! Nobody should have to use PTO for a holiday to get paid for it!

    Pros

Enviroment with patients good. Coworkers are good but sometimes hard to work under pay.

    Cons

Poor pay 12.00 aprox and No raice salarynin las 4 years but the one. The office's they haf bonus CNA/HHA Works in a hostile enviromets 50% of he time exposed HIV,C-dfficile and shingle no body told you(oh you treat pts like all them has coutageous disease ) well I wear 4 gloves masks ext. Just because Im still nursing. Very discriminatory enviroment. Im full time considering switch to PRN the company treat them lie crap also (every body knows PRN are the ones doesn't had any rights practically) but M making the change or KINDRED Hospice is next step they are paying PRN's 14.00 per hour starting

    Advice to Management

You had now 28% RN's and LPN and 30% CNA's moving to Kindred Hospice because they pay more and benefits are better. Race the CNA's or you are going to continue hiring Agencies who end up paying more for theor service's !!!! Crazy!

    Pros

The most genuine, real, and caring people that I have worked with!

    Cons

At this writing, no EHR, so all charting by hand. Quite Exhausting!

    Advice to Management

Instead of putting patients and their families first, they should put the nurses First! They are they life blood of the agency, as they do the work an put the agency at the pinnacle they are at Today! They are "Vitas!" They are the "Life," of the agency!
