I worked at VMC Consulting full-time

    Pros

Flexibility, Variety of Work, and Location

    Cons

Constant Leadership Turnover, Compensation, and Benefits

    Advice to Management

Separate yourself from Volt Information Sciences to help with your image and allow more adjustable margins. Pay attention to customer relationships. Pay attention to benefits for employees as there is not a one size fits all, there should be something offered for testers or lower level hourly employees and something for professional level employees.

    Pros

Lots of free parking and coffee. Some good worker bees who care about their work product and are fun to work with.

    Cons

Management is so poor that it's pointless to try hard. No reason to want to move up or take on more work.

    Pros

great experience that can leader to advancement opportunities at other companies

    Cons

No room for advancement at the company itself. Lack of communication from management and a naturally stressful work environment makes it someplace you don't want to be long-term.

    Advice to Management

    Increase the communication

    Pros

If you are lucky, you may get a good manager that buffers you from the upper management team. Benefits are good PTO and Insurance.
Prefect opportunity for a white male sociopath, those are the folks that get promoted .

    Cons

Upper Management uses an authoritarian leadership style, this wouldn't be so bad if they made sound business decisions.
Employees are treated like any other asset (PC, Desk, Software) Not valued as people
They are the good ole boys club...If you are a minority or female good luck in moving up I the organization!
When they have a good manager, they fire them. And promote the awful mangers.
Males make more than their female counterparts.

I worked at VMC Consulting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    I had great co-workers
It was a good opportunity to work for a large software company.

    Cons

They treat you more or less like a commodity. VMC took a high ratio of my bill rate compared to other contracting companies. The benefits are minimal and what they do provide forced either by law or by the company they are vending for. Had a ridiculous policy regarding holiday pay making it very difficult to qualify for it. The only reason that I had a chair when I started was because I took one from a conference room. Had to fight to get ergonomic equipment. Ended up buying my own keyboard to use. Had to use reams of paper as monitor risers. I received a working headset for the phone only because someone else was let go and I inherited his.

    Advice to Management

I think it would be difficult to improve unless there is a serious change in policy regarding benefits. Though a good start would be to provide the necessary equipment for the job. Also make it easier to obtain ergonomic equipment.

    Pros

VMC has established great service offerings and value to our customers. The focus on core service offerings in the last few years is refreshing and will play well in the future success of VMC.

    Cons

The current leadership is more focused on issues that do not provide the ability to grow revenue that company is not focused on the right things value to the client and growth

    Pros

The people I work with are supportive & kind. The job is easy & fairly laid-back.

    Cons

Management has zero concern for employee morale. Compensation is poor. Raises? What raises? Have gotten none since moving to my current role & my performance has been excellent.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Give them a pat on the back if they do well. More money would be even nicer.

I worked at VMC Consulting (More than 5 years)

    Pros

That’s a hard one, they came to me when the last contracting place lost the bid.
Pay was OK untill they took a cut.

    Cons

They cut your pay then a few years later they will give you what they call a raise that’s less than the pay cut, the dysfunctional huffy project coordinator will laugh if you mention a cost of living raise.

    Advice to Management

    Management through intimidation.
Take better care of the people that are doing the work.
    Ron Hurle: egotistical, self-admiring.
