    Pros

Best in class technology and products. Everyone is treated fair and with respect. Health benefits are much better than other companies

    Cons

There aren't too many things to not like about VMware. If I had to not pick it would be the 401K match is capped each quarter.

    I worked at VMware full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, people, team aspect. company size not so large as to be daunting but large enough to have infrastructure.

    Cons

EMC oversight is stifling and limiting company's future.
Struggling with new growth due to shift in cloud spending

    Advice to Management

Figure out cloud strategy and really connect with your top talent.

    Cons

Given my job role, work could either be extremely boring, or incredibly rigorous.

    Advice to Management

    Less micro management

    Pros

Market leader with wide array of solutions to help IT solve data center operations, management and business challenges.

    Cons

Products are expensive compared to competition and leadership has become complacent.

    Advice to Management

    Think like a startup again!

I worked at VMware full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing campus in PA, strong executive team, plenty of challenges to tackle and interesting people to work with. Strong rotation programs and mobility among teams.

    Cons

Pick your team carefully, some are good, others not so much. Plenty of politics to go around. The company is facing an existential struggle as it tries to figure out what comes next after ESX.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget about the knitting -- Virtualization is still a complicated, large problem, especially with management and monitoring of large scale systems..

I have been working at VMware (Less than a year)

    Pros

Culture, the people are very kind and willing to help, the campus is beautiful, work-life balance is good

    Cons

All of the employees here are a bit senior for a relatively young(ish) tech company, they have a huge proportion of contractors in relation to full-time positions

I worked at VMware full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great snacks, access to lots of great training material, lots of smart people, depending on which team you end up in the day to day work may be really challenging in a good way.

    Cons

Poor on-boarding process, pay was not competitive, management was not interested in personnel development nor was helpful at the time, going beyond and above did not translate into recognition nor reward.
