I have been working at VNIT full-time

    Pros

    Best Faculty among all departments.
Option of Structural Dynamics and Structural Engineering for PG students.(As of now, former available only in VNIT and IIT Roorkee in India)
    Good exposure to design software.
Overall,if passionate for Structural Engineering, one of the best departments among all NITs to be associated with.

    Cons

Structural Dynamics students are good in RCC but lacks thorough knowledge of steel whereas Structural Engg. students are proficient in steel design as compared to RCC.
Exposure to live projects/ consultancy work is low.

    Advice to Management

Let students decide which courses they want to study.
More intimate involvement with consultancy works/ live projects will go a long way to familiarize students with design concepts.
Administration should seriously consider introducing more subjects in place of thesis.
