    Terrible place to work

Aug 8, 2021 - Care Management Support Coordinator
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The only good thing is the freedom and work from home aspect, otherwise there's not much else. However WFH is pretty common these days so it's nothing to boast about.

    Cons

Managers like to say they're there for you but once you email them for support, they ignore your email or send you information that doesn't always help, such as an outdated SOP. Management loves to brag about how much they care about their employees but unfortunately this is not true. Every month there is a new assignment/task to be added on top of current tasks without any compensation being considered. Sometimes these new tasks will be added without giving any prior notice therefore causing a lot of confusion, even within management where they will tell you different things. Upper management is always saying how this is a great company because of great "hospitality." They say it's not because they treat their clients well, it's because they treat their employees well which in turn leads to our clients being happy. Unfortunately they only preach it, they make you do more work for the same pay. There is also no chance of career advancement within this department. Older employees get the same or sometimes even less pay than the newer ones.

    VNS Health Response

    Operations Specialist

Thank you for bringing your experience to light. We have all been striving to remain agile during these challenging times in order to meet the needs of the organization and the communities we serve. This often translates into new or additional work in order to support operations and delivery of vital services. At the same time, we recognize the importance for managers to support their teams by providing the tools and information necessary to be successful in their roles. This includes sharing context as to shifts in workload and identifying priorities for timely completion of projects and assignments. We suggest that you speak with your supervisor to raise these concerns and share your perspectives. This will allow them the opportunity to understand and address your concerns. We agree that opportunities for career advancement are important and we are actively devoting additional resources toward the development of career pathways through a “Career Framework” initiative. We believe these pathways will help employees identify ways to grow their career within VNSNY. Information about our Career Framework initiative will be shared with employees this fall. We appreciate the opportunity to reply to you as an active employee and will share the concerns you presented to management. If you wish to follow-up or speak directly with someone, please email us at HRManagers@vnsny.org.

    Ehhhhh.......

Mar 3, 2021 - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Being on call is one of the greatest things that's ever happened to me, I love working with the clients. The job hours are super convenient and the benefits are not that bad .

    Cons

Upper management is passive aggressive, they lack sympathy and do not offer support but expect you to give emotional support to grieving families. It's absolutely asinine. The nurses (both RNs and LPNs) do not feel heard and every little (literally the tiniest) mistake that we make lands us in an investigation. Apply at your own risk.

Loyalty means nothing to VNSNY CMH management

    Sep 20, 2015 - Anonymous Employee

    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Excellent service to clients by staff/social workers that really care. Coworker family atmosphere. Great benefits.

    Cons

Management couldn't care less about anything but the bottom line of making money. CMH directors do not care how loyal an employee is, They will throw you away in a second to protect their secrets. They steer grant funds into the company rather than the clients it is meant for. The give minimum services to the mental health community. People who give 1000% are tossed to the side in order for the corrupt managers & upper management to continue to be underhanded.

    Pros

Great vacation, personal and sick time. Tuition reimbursement. There are some managers still left who care about you as a person.

    Cons

Horrible new workflows. No one knows how to manage. Upper management doesnt give credit when credit is due and they are extremely phony and fake.
