I worked at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Big on diversity, continual training, great benefits, management transparency, encouraging individual growth, very friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

Very limited room for advancement, computer system lacked updating.

    Advice to Management

Sacramento corporate office needs to bring more jobs to Columbus to retain employees. I as well as others looked elsewhere for career opportunities.

I have been working at VSP Vision Care full-time

    Pros

Decent hourly wage, good people to work with

    Cons

Company focus is on speed at the expense of accuracy, LOUSY annual raises, horrible fluctuating schedules, changes every 3 month and tenure is not a factor for schedule preference. No real opportunities for advancement.
Was a great place to work first 3 years, 2008- 2011, then management & everything changed for the worse drastically.

    Advice to Management

Value experience and quality, not just speed of getting customers on and off the phone.

    Cons

QA was too much. The politics.

I worked at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with (peers, not supervisors) were terrific.

    Cons

Extremely high stress work environment, excessive micromanagement, no opportunities for career advancement out of customer service, pay not sufficient for the knowledge and skill level required for the job, benefits cost more and cover less every year, very minimal annual pay raise percentages.

    Advice to Management

Treat customer service employees as employees are treated in other departments, have clearly available paths and opportunities for career advancement, including positions in departments in other areas of the company, not just customer service or claims. Originally the company focus was clearly on quality customer service, but shifted to getting customers on and off the phone as quickly as possible, at the expense of providing accurate answers, first call resolution and superior quality service.
