    Pros

Bonuses, benefits, telecommuting, vacation, rate the company, most employees are cordial, training, raises, volunteer opportunities, vacation, family fun & company picnics

    Cons

They really do not try to develop their employees & play favorites not enough open vacation days for employees as big as they are some employees are not able to get vacation in. Mgmt needs to split up relations that reflect favoritism

    Advice to Management

Shake up long term employees to move on to a different department including management

    Pros

    Low Expectations.
    Holiday events.
    Food Options Near HQ.

    Cons

    Workforce Architecture-
VSP's stated goal in the HR guide is "to pay employees between the minimum and midpoint pay amounts." New Hires are often hired at or slightly below the midpoint. This effectively means that the vast majority of new hires will make more, sometimes significantly more, than tenured people, especially those who started with the company at a lower level position. Also, if the majority of staff on a team are below the midpoint, is it really a midpoint?

Promotion raise is capped at 5% for Individual Contributor Track, so don't count on getting paid at the end of the rainbow.

Supervisor Title is the same classification and salary band whether you manage a call center team, analyst team, or developer team. So dumb, I still can't figure out how this got implemented.

Unemployment is 3.5%. This model isn't working in the labor market.

    Advice to Management

The workforce architecture was designed during a massive recession to control costs and tighten up manager oversight. It doesn't match reality in the labor market and puts the company at a severe disadvantage to recruit and retain top talent. Dump it now. A structure that requires more exceptions to operate than normal process makes the exceptions the process.

    Pros

    Free cake once a month

    Cons

Where to begin? Unwillingness to address shortcomings, risks. Top heavy company with lifers lacking a clue. Nitpicking on stupid crap rather than focusing on challenges. Unwillingness to accept the consumer is the patient, not the doctor.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue

I worked at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good culture, mission, and opportunities for advancement. In the claims department, you have a flexible schedule and are encouraged to work from home.

    Cons

Agility in bringing innovation and upgrades to systems and processes.
VSP preaches innovation but don't have the necessary resources to implement continuous quality improvement initiatives and streamlined solutions that will save them money. Also, Customer Care Department can sometimes feel like second class citizens to the other lines of business.

    Advice to Management

Retain top talent and learn to work with the millennial generation. Intellectual capital is very important! Senior Management in Customer Care treats all employees as expendable not realizing the opportunity cost when talented, hard working employees leave the department or the company all together.

    Pros

Company cares for its employees and is a pleasant/rewarding place to work overall,

    Cons

Organization lacks focus and prioritization at times, and moves slowly due to undue executive micromanagement from the IT/HR areas.

    Pros

Good pay ...top notch benefits....great staff...lots of food...great work environment

    Cons

Shift bid sucks...payroll hours are manually submitted by the employee on a timesheet and I don't see why this has not been upgraded with all the technology available today.
