I have been working at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay ...top notch benefits....great staff...lots of food...great work environment

    Cons

Shift bid sucks...payroll hours are manually submitted by the employee on a timesheet and I don't see why this has not been upgraded with all the technology available today.

I worked at VSP Vision Care (More than a year)

    Pros

The family feeling between our shift employees was great. Everyone was looking out for each other.

    Cons

Upper management did not always understand our groups value to the overall benefit of the company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to all of the employees, regardless of their position for their input to operational activities.

I worked at VSP Vision Care full-time

    Pros

It use to be a fun place for CSR's

    Cons

They have no sense of what it is to have a family and other's at home to take care of . As far as they see it you work for them 24/7 and anything else that happens in your personal life doesn't matter to them. Nor should it matter to you.

    Advice to Management

Be Kinder and more understanding to the people who work for you.

I have been working at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health insurance is okay. Not much else to add.

    Cons

Management has changed and so are the policies. The company is very political and bureaucratic. It’s not about what you know but who you know. The new management has hired their own comrades from previous places of employment.

People lack discipline and some coworkers seem to not care about what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

I think management needs to be divided up.

I worked at VSP Vision Care (More than a year)

    Pros

VSP has a highly professional workplace culture that doesn't stifle creativity.

    Cons

A sense that personal contributions are overlooked - because the org is so large, can be difficult to feel as though you are a part of the team.

    Advice to Management

Focus on fostering a sense of project ownership among employees

I worked at VSP Vision Care full-time

    Pros

I like that management is open and willing to talk and reach out to staff. Management doesn't make you feel inferior.

    Cons

Calls are back to back to back to back your whole shift. They want you to check emails through out all the day, you don't get time because of the calls.

    Advice to Management

Hire more reps so calls are not overwhelming your csr's. Practice what you preach and maybe take calls for a week so you understand how employees feel. Because I have observed many management who refuse to take calls.

I have been working at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very stable company, laid-back work environment, flexible schedule, emphasis on healthy lifestyle

    Cons

Has lost that "family style" culture that made it one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, benefits used to be some of the best in the industry but are now just status-quo, emphasis on training is almost completely absent

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and look at what the company was 10 years ago when it routinely made the list of America's top-100 companies to work for. Stop trying to make VSP just like every other company out there. We are not Google. VSP used to have it's own unique culture.
