    Pros

Employees are given great benefits and if you get a decent manager then the work environment is very pleasant.

    Cons

Contractors are seen as very disposable and not a great percentage of them move on to FTE positions. They are treated very well, but just a high turnover.

    Pros

Profit sharing. Cake day once a month.

    Cons

Customer service. 200 plus call holding not enough staff to handle.. supervisors are out on the street corner smoking. Vsp quantity over quality. What is a score card. No training about it.

    Advice to Management

Learn to do something other than disciplinary action. Help your employees suceed.

I worked at VSP Vision Care (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, work from home, 4 day work rate

    Cons

Too many employees so time and an abundant claims that can’t age so competing for vacation dates & it is by seniority . Too many long term so they scratch each other’s back rather than terminate some that play favorites towards other long term employees. They had 1 employee that they kept moving her but she never changed.

    Advice to Management

If you have worked their for 20 years go to another company. Let others get to move positions

I have been working at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Low Expectations.
    Holiday events.
    Food Options Near HQ.

    Cons

    Workforce Architecture-
VSP's stated goal in the HR guide is "to pay employees between the minimum and midpoint pay amounts." New Hires are often hired at or slightly below the midpoint. This effectively means that the vast majority of new hires will make more, sometimes significantly more, than tenured people, especially those who started with the company at a lower level position. Also, if the majority of staff on a team are below the midpoint, is it really a midpoint?

Promotion raise is capped at 5% for Individual Contributor Track, so don't count on getting paid at the end of the rainbow.

Supervisor Title is the same classification and salary band whether you manage a call center team, analyst team, or developer team. So dumb, I still can't figure out how this got implemented.

Unemployment is 3.5%. This model isn't working in the labor market.

    Advice to Management

The workforce architecture was designed during a massive recession to control costs and tighten up manager oversight. It doesn't match reality in the labor market and puts the company at a severe disadvantage to recruit and retain top talent. Dump it now. A structure that requires more exceptions to operate than normal process makes the exceptions the process.
