I worked at VSP Vision Care (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Intern program at VSP is well-rounded that aims at helping the interns grow and develop corporate skills. There were a lot of workshops held to help us understand the work culture at VSP and learn new technologies. We also had various career development workshops which helped with our networking skills. There were many social events like Cake Day, Team Lunch, Potluck etc. A great company to start as an Intern and grow.

    Cons

    No H1b visa sponsorship done.

I worked at VSP Vision Care full-time

    Pros

    Profit sharing and 401K match
PTO 3 weeks with 1 week supplemental after 3 yrs
    2 cafes on campus
    Paid and free fitness classes
    Annual on-campus health assessments
Free pizza twice a year for all company staff meeting
Fun at first (like first 1-2 years and then you realize nothing will ever change)
If you are good at brown nosing , great chances of moving up. Infact politics suoercede hardwork. Easy right.

    Cons

About 1/3rd of company does zero work, rest cover the slack
Leaders who are incapable of making decisions, good or bad
Stagnant, company is on the verge of being disrupted
Most smart people leave because of poor managers.
    Politics in every layer.
People who get promoted are usually the YES MEN who go along with old leadership’s stale ideas. Those who speak up and venture outside the box are held back.
    Status quo encouraged and rewarded.
Company in a risky phase with only some leadership acknowledging it or caring about it. If people stop buying vision insurance, the company would instantly die. Goodbye job security.

    Advice to Management

Of all lines of businesses vsp vision care has the most inflated workforce. Streamline teams and workforce architecture. A third of your associates sit around with no work or waiting for work from other departments who also don’t do any work.
If you want to survive the economic recession and industry disruption then become more innovative. Insurance plans from 2 decades ago won’t make it work.
Keep up with market pay unless only people you want to retain are monkeys who come in just to punch in and out.
People who want to transform the business and make an impact are discouraged by your politics and snail pace are leaving your company.

I have been working at VSP Vision Care full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay is the only decent thing

    Cons

Everything from the benefits to the job. I never got any training, I sit there all day with no work to do because they hired me when I wasn’t needed. The company makes money but I don’t know how. The management in the Sales department is the worst. My small team is treated like we are in a call center and aren’t adults. It’s honestly one of the worst companies I have ever worked for.

    Advice to Management

Change your benefits especially the medical benefits. Change your policy for the PTO or vacation time. My last company which was a big health insurance company started with 6.15 hours every paycheck of PTO and with VSP they only give you 3.33 hours per check. Also change the pay schedule. They pay the 15th and 30th which is horrible and doesn’t allow for a comfortable means of living. With everything due towards the end of the month it’s hard. Make it every two weeks which will allow for 80 hours on each check.

I worked at VSP Vision Care (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    None, zip, nada, zero, flaan

    Cons

*Managers occupy their positions due to favors, nepotism, and scandal, and act without regard to ethics or decency.
*This place is lousy with sacred cows and affirmative action hires, mostly animals that take credit from those hard working.
*Salary employees are regularly exploited for hundreds of unpaid overtime every year.
*Supervisors who can be (molded, or brainwashed by management) and know the least about their business are promoted the quickest.

    Advice to Management

*Don't discriminate against health issues that your employees are struggling with.
*Stop promoting those that do not deserve it, it looks suspicions when the CEO resigns for "personal reasons' just after promoting a lady who then goes through a divorce at the same time and gets promoted.
*Drop the dead weight and outsource all technical aspects of this disaster.

    Pros

Great benefits, Cake Day once a month

    Cons

Low wage, bad management, playing favorites, atrocious attendance policy, no room for advancement, no recognition

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Why is there such a high turnover in customer service? Get rid of stagnant managers. Offer flexibility in attendance policy such as allowing doctor's notes for unforseen absences.

I have been working at VSP Vision Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employees are given great benefits and if you get a decent manager then the work environment is very pleasant.

    Cons

Contractors are seen as very disposable and not a great percentage of them move on to FTE positions. They are treated very well, but just a high turnover.

    Pros

Profit sharing. Cake day once a month.

    Cons

Customer service. 200 plus call holding not enough staff to handle.. supervisors are out on the street corner smoking. Vsp quantity over quality. What is a score card. No training about it.

    Advice to Management

Learn to do something other than disciplinary action. Help your employees suceed.
