I have been working at VWR full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Respectful supervisor (singular not plural)

    - Compressed shift

    - Work can get done in any order you'd like

    - Benefits

    Cons

    - Pushing 400+ ibs worth of material daily while being gowned (Customer site)

    - Being micromanaged creates employee competition and lack of trust (employee chart graphs)

    - Management believes more in "numbers" and lacks trust in your work ethic without considering that their number system is easily manipulated (joke of a system)

    - Weekly meeting that takes up time

    - Horrible new hire on-site training

    - The use of company created broken app (VSR)

    - Attending customer walk-ins in a time limited schedule

    - Being the only job site cleaning unsanitary respirators

    - Being compared to other VWR sites that are way significantly smaller and obviously easier to tend to

Personally I believe some of these only are for our specific job site being it is way significantly bigger than any other customer job sites that VWR attends so take this review with a grain of salt.

    Advice to Management

Overall management is very great at listening in quarterly meetings, but listening and taking action are 2 different things. Management needs to put themselves in their employees shoes more instead of simply questioning why numbers are low. Not all supervisors are respectful, instead a few very rudely demand things get done. Need to improve training for sure! I can't stress that enough.

    Cons

Racists company blacks are at low level positions with degrees. Meanwhile whites with no degrees get moved up within the company. A lot of jobs were never posted and given to whites

    "Insufficient new employee training"

    I worked at VWR full-time

    Pros

The people ( co-workers and boss) were friendly.

    Cons

As a new employee, I found it difficult to learn my job. There is virtually no training. As a mainstay in process manufacturing for 20+ years, I found it difficult to learn with a very unstructured (or informal) training (or learning) period when doing my job as a new employee. I had been accustomed to receiving strict training when working in the manufacturing sector because of the existence of customary process documentation that needs to be followed.

I do realize that there were some aspects of my job that could not be taught. I simply could not learn things as quickly like they probably wanted me to. However, this may actually be a good way to weed out people who don't learn quickly. After all, not all employment sectors are created equal.

I have been working at VWR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Quiet office, free fruit and coffee, company cell phone and laptop, free parking, close to train station

    Cons

Micro-management, inconsistent HR policies, inconsistent salary and review standards, CYA mentality with little to no focus on teamwork or collaboration. Constantly changing SOPs and org chart with no training or regard to input from employees.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees as much as you value your bottom line.

I worked at VWR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Mostly flexible work schedule
    Fruit twice a week
    Gym on site
    Remote work

    Cons

    Lack of support from management
They will hold you down before they will bring you up
Younger higher-ups want to keep their job, so they will try to sabotage your effort so you don't look as valuable as them
    No room for mistakes
    Training is suspect
If you are clinically ill, they will not support your health. They will, instead, put you on an improvement plan before they let you go. Stay healthy, or else.
Do not get personable or human in front of any employee. They think you are weird if you ask an employee or manager if they are mad at you.
Very uber-corporate environment, don't even smile at anyone.

    Advice to Management

Humanize, empathize, sympathize, and grasp your employees personal lives and how it affects their work lives.

I worked at VWR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible schedule for the most part and good employees

    Cons

Horrible management. They hire unqualified managers just to fill the seat. Feel they need to promote up because they have been in the organization for x years not because they are qualified. No processes or processes improvement. As an organization they need to learn to work smarter not harder.

    Advice to Management

Dont hire people for management just because of tenure. Please look into quality and value the potential manager can bring.

I worked at VWR as a contractor

    Pros

Teams will help to no end and usually will do it for nothing.

    Cons

Long hours with little money and training.

    Advice to Management

Managed, micro management pretty much watched like a hawk. The manager wants to protect his or her job because vwr likes to fire management team.
