    Advice to Management

I have been working at VWR full-time

    Pros

I've seen a lot of improvements since I've been here concerning employee engagement, retention, and recognition and think it's benefitted the local working environment and productivity. There are still some departments that are 'behind the times' but overall I have enjoyed working for VWR concerning both content and culture

    Cons

The benefits package needs a boost, especially for a public company in its industry. Vacation is only 2 weeks until you've been with the company for 5+ years and maternity leave is only 6 weeks short term disability. No paternity leave. Health insurance is expensive; dental and eye are ok. European counterparts have much more vacation and seemingly more flexibility. This makes home/ work balance difficult, especially for families.

I worked at VWR (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent work life balance. Great coworkers. Real team atmosphere. Fun place to spend 40 hours a week and get the jobs done. Benefits were good and the retirement was excellent.

    Cons

Not a whole lot of negatives to report in hind site. My manager was fantastic but I could tell that ones experience at VWR depended a lot of who you report to. Some managers or directors were incredibly strict and not interested in finding better solutions to problems. "Because we've always done it that way" seemed to be a prevailing attitude.

    Advice to Management

VWR seemed to be successful in spite of themselves. There are many employees there with excellent ideas and if they would only entertain them, I believe they could finally overtake their number one competitor. Just my humble opinion.

I have been working at VWR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Colleagues and team members, wonderful customers
    Good ins, 401K, ESP

    Cons

    Low Pay for Metro Area
Corporate out of touch with the field
    No 'Perks'

    Advice to Management

Get out in the field, have real one on one conversations with your front line leaders, tenure is not always a good thing, you have real innovative ideas out their but they are being snuffed out by 'tenured' Directors
