I have been working at VWR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In this type of position you must work well with little supervision. The hours can be flexible depending on your customer. This being a big company, there are opportunities to advance if your willing to possibly relocate.

    Cons

The training was not good so you must learn a lot on your own. The pay should be higher for the expectations of VWR. Yearly raise is minimal even if your performing well.

    Advice to Management

Train better, give an advantage to current employees for opportunities for advancement and make sure you have happy employees.

    Cons

The biggest con is the pay, also it seems like the supervisors are disconnected from the jobs that we perform

    Advice to Management

I have been working at VWR full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work atmosphere. Good environment, low stress. Good management.

    Cons

Underpaid. Management has been increasing buyer work load and job description for the past few years without increasing pay. High turnover for buyers.

    Advice to Management

Pay buyers a competitive rate or do not place new expectations on them.

I have been working at VWR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The majority of the people you work with are excellent people, motivated by a strong desire to improve science education for all levels of students. They are friendly and welcoming to new employees, and always willing to help each other.

    Cons

Mid- to upper-management consistently demonstrate that their loyalties lie with the companies financial bottom line, and have little to no concern for the long-term well-being of their employees. There is strong pressure exerted to keep people's compensation information a secret, almost certainly to hide the fact that there are people who are paid widely disparate wages for nearly the same job being done by people with very similar levels of education and experience; and worse, cases where more experienced, higher performing employees are paid less than their counterparts in similar positions.

    Advice to Management

The long term success of any company lies in its ability to attract and retain top talent. The best way to do that is to show employees (and prospective employees) the respect they deserve.

I worked at VWR (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Enjoyed working with other sales reps. Solid benefits across the board. Room for advancement if that is what you are looking for.

    Cons

Senior management treats sales managers and sales reps with no respect. They are never held accountable to problems they create. When sales are down they fire or run sales managers under the bus. New CEO should clean house on upper management.

    Advice to Management

Promote hard working middle managers and get rid of upper management team.

I have been working at VWR full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good opportunity to make a difference, good benefits, with the move to becoming more "corporate", some things may have been lost, but there has been a huge push to make the environment better to work in, and it has worked.

    Cons

Product development has turned into master data management. There is a need for new products, but the people who are supposed to do that spend more time managing data than actually creating new products.

    Advice to Management

Get the developers back into Science and the Classroom! There are a lot of great ideas that we just don't have time to develop because of all the other stuff that is needed.
