I worked at Valdosta State University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are good supervisors here and the pay is decent for student assistants. Everything is pretty well organized. Scheduling is pretty relaxed.

    Cons

The other student assistants aren't very motivated to do their jobs well. There isn't a whole lot of supervision by supervisors. The hours are kept to 12-16 per week.

    Advice to Management

Supervise student assistants a little more.

    Cons

None I can think of. If you work hard you weill do well

    Advice to Management

Pay more than the minimum wage. We ere college students living on fixed incomes, more money always helps.

I have been working at Valdosta State University (More than a year)

    Pros

VSU has a great small campus atmosphere with genuine people who want to make the university all that it can be. Many people strive to make VSU a wonderful workplace, and everyone gets along very well.

    Cons

Some things simply don't change when they should. If a security vulnerability is discovered, someone in security should be at fault. A 'hacker' shouldn't be at blame when it's someone's job to prevent vulnerabilities.

    Advice to Management

There is plenty of fresh talent entering the IT/Tech industry. There is no reason to keep old people who haven't stayed up to date with technologies and aren't capable to create the resources we need.

I worked at Valdosta State University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent hours and pay, efficient managers and supervisors, relative freedom with schedules

    Cons

first to be laid off during budget cuts, long hours around finals week if you were also a student.

    Advice to Management

Maybe budget or let students know that their jobs could be lost, so they don't go thinking they have a permanent place.
