I worked at Valeant (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation is unquestionably at the high end of the scale, and the management at the district level in my area deserved high praise throughout tumultuous times for the company on the whole.

    Cons

By 2015, the company was chaotic. Before crisis, communications from HR, marketing, compliance... all HQ, were remarkable for lack of organization. At the beginning of (and throughout) crisis, communication was lacking and, when offered, it was embarrassingly inadequate.

    Advice to Management

Corporate governance is currently being addressed, and obviously the highest priority, if not legally required and simply necessary for survival. Subsequently, any remnants of the culture of chaos which permeated throughout all company wide departments must be addressed and removed.

I worked at Valeant full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Aggressive acquisition strategy , integrating multiple companies every year coupled with licensing and distribution agreements. Maintaining a lean profile by consolidation of redundant administrative functions and systems integration.

    Cons

Single focus on return on investment, the approach for decentralized management leaves significant gaps in the global supply chain process and very difficult issues to address on the research and development function.

    Advice to Management

Implement a change in the structure to allow true global products to managed across countries, continents and regions.

    Pros

The offices are in a state-of-the-art centrally located building complex close to all major Central New Jersey highways. The area and complex are not congested with traffic.

    Cons

The professional staff is virtually all new and learning about Valeant as they go. Direction from supervisors is often contradictory and inconsistent. The work is monotonous and complicated without any reason by the management who seems very insure and tentative at times spending too much time on minutiae and CYA than accomplishing Valeant's business. The company is successful despites itself or at least middle management.

    Advice to Management

Put the business ahead of personal agendas and obssesive wheel spinning on minutiae.
