I have been working at Valmont Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Valmont is full of many great people who truly care about the company, which is reflected by the amount of people who stay for 30 or 40+ years. I feel that the business as a whole is positioned for sustainable long-term success, even if a particular business segment has a down cycle. There are definite opportunities for career advancement if you are on the right team. Great benefits.

    Cons

The culture is very old-fashioned and slow to change, an unfortunate effect of having such longevity in the workforce. "We've always done it this way" is something you'll hear often.

I have been working at Valmont Industries full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Valmont does have a track record of giving annual raises and pays really well for the area.

    Cons

It will pay for a good family life but it sure won't lead to one. If you don't mind working 6-7 days a week during the summer this is the place to come. The shop floor people are expected to work 50-70 hours a week, while management stays home on the weekends. They don't care you have a family. One time after working 2 months straight, was told by management at a meeting, if you want a day off take vacation.

    Advice to Management

Your people are not slaves and could be your greatest asset.
