I have been working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work is largely self-paced, and the hours are very flexible. All in all, not a difficult job, just a tedious one. Earphones are allowed and, in my opinion, are necessary!

    Cons

The supervisor will constantly micro-manage you, and often struggles to respond to questions despite the fact that she has supposedly been doing this job for many years. In addition, they have a strict policy that NO other work can be done at the desk, despite the fact that this results in many periods of time where there is literally nothing else to do than watch papers feed through a scanner.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workers - we know the ins and outs of the daily grind better than anyone else, because we're the ones doing it!
