I have been working at Vanderbilt University part-time

    Pros

Vanderbilt has a lot of different research areas. You can almost certainly find one that interests you.

    Cons

You probably won't like research if you need a lot of direction. It's good for people who are really independent.

I have been working at Vanderbilt University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits of working at a university (i.e. speakers, concerts, other events). Pays well compared to other universities. Located in Nashville. Employee benefits are very nice.

    Cons

Unavoidable, institutional politics. Dealing with the hierarchy and structure of various offices. Room for advancement can easily take 5-7+ years, it's easier to look elsewhere.
