I have been working at Vanderheyden Hall full-time

    Pros

Some of the staff are really great! There was this one lady who works in the administration building, I do not remember her name but she was really great with the children! I think her name started with a C? But anyways, staff like her makes Vanderheyden a great place to work. Thank you!

    Cons

None to mention, I do not want to throw a company under the bus!

    Advice to Management

Don't put people under the bus!

    Pros

You gain a lot of hands on experience from the job and you work with some really good people.

    Cons

The environment is not therapeutic, there is a lot of mixed messages, lack of support, you are placed in parameters for all your shift, salaries do not increase, there is a lot of gossip that the administration actively participate in, often hire staff who are clearly incapable of creating a therapeutic environment and there is little to no follow up

    Advice to Management

Clean up your act and with it your hiring practices

  6. "Decent first job"

    Pros

Some of the social workers and other healthcare professionals were caring and knew what they were doing. Some of the staff at the group homes (separate houses for the boys and another one for the girls) were really dedicated to the clients.

    Cons

The atmosphere was very disorganized. The rules were inconsistent, so as a direct care worker, it was hard to know when to enforce them and when not to. There was minimal training.

    Advice to Management

More training and support to direct care workers
