    I have been working at Vanguard Cleaning Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    I like that I have a Flexible schedule. Good company moral. Great team to work with. Room for advancement as well.

    Cons

    I dislike working long hours and being on call at night and on weekends. Lots of customer complaints regarding issues with cleaners.

    Advice to Management

    Better base salary would cause less stress.

    Pros

    Pay
    Freedom
    Working with business owners rather than the public.

    Cons

    You will be trained by people who will make you believe you are doing a good job and then tell the owner everything they want to tell him behind your back. Your opinion doesn't matter, they will agree with you than use your work as their own. The freedom involved in this job will lead you to believe it is okay to milk the clock, as my trainer was showing me less than one week in on the job.

    You'll be subjected to a culture where your performance will not decide if you are a good employee, only what your trainer reports back to the owner. Do not speak about anyone involved with the company because they will use this information against you. You will be expected to work on your own long before the stated training period has been achieved. Training is supposed to be 3 months and was only 3 weeks.

    You're also not allowed to be honest with anyone due to fear of losing a client which in turn effects your retention bonus.

    Advice to Management

    There is no advice you can give. The owner trusts his employees, they do what ever they want because he is not in the same state. They come to work and leave when they want.

    Advice to owner, train the employee yourself rather than have someone who's been there long enough that he can do what ever he wants, including showing you how drinking on the job, while needing to drive to appointments, is perfectly fine.

    The business model for franchisees is very successful.

    Cons

    Where can I go if I have an issue with the Master Franchisee in my region? Is that the top of the line and I have no recourse?

    Fast pace work environment
    Fair pay
    Fair hours
    Ability to meet and engage with clients and individuals
    At my time there learned valuable skills on my own to perform my job well

    Cons

    Management team family business with father owns and now passed down to son who has no clue how to run the business

    Management has no accountability and would assign task not with your job discription

    No advancement

    No real job designation. ..everyone seems to have no clue what to do including managment

    False promises

    Lots of wear and tear to personal vehicle

    Very poor training basically just put you out on the field and say good luck

    Advice to Management

    Figure out who is running the company

    Stop giving people false hope

    Be accountable ,management shouldn't force their work on someone else and then blame you for not doing your job!

    Have better training and organizations skills

    And if you are going to pass down your legacy to your son or family member make sure they are capable mentally to handle the business and not play with the lives of people.

    Pros

    Lots of variety. The office is casual and personable. Interesting and always changing. Good learning opportunity.

    Cons

    Over worked, unappreciated, micromanaged, underpaid, bad franchisee treatment.

    Advice to Management

    Let your team do their job. Treat your franchisees with respect and quit hiding information from them.

    Excellent work/life balance, A work environment that allows you to grow and to be a part of an enthusiastic team. Tools to build on your strengths and improve your weaknesses with support from upper management. Executives are always open to new ideas and asking for ways to improve and stay a step ahead of the competitors

    Cons

    Finding a "common ground" to stand on that both the VCS Customer and VCS Business Owner can agree on can sometimes prove as a challenge...

    The education and business mentality of the master franchisee are great. Growing company with the eye on excellent business strategies. I love the fact that we make decesions as a team, ownership does not make the only call. The family feel that we bring to the franchisees is most important, we let them know we are in this together

    I see none, I don't care if it's not looked upon as sexy.. sexy doesn't last forever..Quality does. We are built for the long haul not the one night stand !!!!!!

    Advice to Management

    I love the conferences and summits, keep them up, its the best thing going and this is what makes us stand out head and shoulders above the competiotion, THANK YOU !!!!!

    + Culture - ask for help and you will receive it; team are very open and honest with each other
    + Commitment to quality - to franchisees and clients
    + Non-political environment - you are measured on results
    + Support - this is very much an organization where everyone is pulling together

    - Not in a sexy industry
    - The not-so-professional competitors give the category a bad name
    - Virtually invisible when you're doing your best work
