    Pros

Small company offering room for career advancement, good communication from management, easy commuting, opportunity to experience world wide travel at a discounted rate, international offices. New hire training.

    Cons

Non-smoking policy. Doesn't hire smokers, but I guess if you don't like it that could be a good thing. Use of personal listening devices, i.e. music with headphones, like ipod or iphone are not allowed.

    Advice to Management

Keep adding free fam trips to the employees

    Pros

Employees are professional and friendly when permitted. There is a full gym in the basement. The HR department is near the front door which enables efficiency's related to the 50%+ turnover rate

    Cons

All of the cons across the 130+ employee reviews are true and not exaggerated. Positive reviews were forced or the result of bribes. This company's marketing continues to spiral it downward financially. At this point there is no possibility of staying afloat. This is shipyard salvage. The competition has eclipsed Vantage in terms of growth and the traveler's experience. Vantage will be the dinosaur case study of the travel industry.

    Advice to Management

Go to AA again, then again. Upon sobriety take marketing 101 to understand that you can't only market to customers and contacts who are 73+ and dying, have no internet presence and deliver mediocre customer experiences.

    Pros

Very sad when the only thing positive you can say is there's free fruit and across the street from the T station.

    Cons

For one, they cannot keep anyone in ANY type of HR management role. It is currently staffed by an intern and a temp. Too many violations. They're moving ALL aspects of the operation, INCLUDING their Sales and Service departments ALL on one floor of the building so the owner can rent out the space that was the call center. There isnt much space per employee.. Safety needs to come into question especially if there's a fire. ANY department that comes into contact with a customer IS REQUIRED to sell them something. This would include the accounting department, costumer service departments even the operations department. Which is completely unheard of. Upper management and the owner took a once fantastic place to work and turned it into a pit of greed and backstabbing. This really all stems from the owner. He likes to think that he and his company are among the Viking, Crystal and Regent cruiselines and it is FAR from it. Everyone is expendable. No one is immune to the uncaring nature of upper management. All VPs are pawns. They cannot really do their jobs without the owner right there dictating. It really is a sad place.

    Advice to Management

Smarten up. Retire the owner and put Someone with actual business sense in charge. Lose all upper management and start over front scratch.

    Pros

If you can hang around and prove your value then the pay is generally above average. The company is fast moving and the best ideas are put into play regardless if they come from the CEO or a new employee. Potential for free international travel and if you get in on the good side of Mr. Lewis then free dinners and sports tickets are always around. They also sell a typically really good product.

    Cons

The stress and pressure put on you directly and indirectly from Mr. Lewis is too much for everyone. Nearly everyone in the building is at or past their breaking point because they're 1) in fear of losing their job or 2) just got overloaded with work because someone else lost their job and they got all of their work. The meetings that pop up out of nowhere and last 5 hours can really throw a wrench in your day and getting your work done. Everyone in the company is name called, put down and regularly insulted when they don't meet the unreasonable expectations. Everyone is paralyzed to make any real decisions or changes unless it's cleared through Mr. Lewis and the only time things gain traction are when an email or discussion starts with "Hank wants us to... ". I was there for 4 years, enjoyed the money, dealt with the other BS but any smart person with self respect will have a finite length to their career. The company is "run by the numbers" but there is basically no accurate reports because the IT team is about 5 people short of being adequate and all of the reports are either built through sql/excel or are just wrong. Hard to find 3 people that all report out on the same numbers. If you're a prospective hire- be prepared to get worked hard, be in a volatile and hostile environment under a lot of stress but if you have a thick skin and are smart then you can make it through a few years and collect a nice paycheck.

    Advice to Management

No advice to management matters- the only voice that matters in that building is that of Mr. Lewis. If I were giving him advice it would be to step away a little bit, stop calling 5 times a day and instead try and hire smart people and let them run the business (never will happen).

    Vantage Deluxe World Travel Response

Vantage continues to invest in the latest technology to ensure the most accurate and up to date reporting.

    Pros

Free gym in the basement, awesome coworkers in the call center, free fruit available most days, sometimes free sandwiches, fun location - right next to north station, public transportation discounts

    Cons

Managers who just don't get it, really high turnover, job is never secure - almost every week someone suddenly disappearing, difficult to get time off, micromanaged to an extreme, every single thing you do is tracked - including bathroom breaks, entire strategy is based off of copying competitors, no realistic travel discounts

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, accept new ideas, stop using threats as a way to drive more sales, update antiquated practices

    Pros

    - Pretty much the Google of the East Coast... latest tech stack, unbelievable company culture, every Monday they bring in the freshest fruit you've ever seen
    - The office is full of like minded people who enjoy each other's presence, and always have fun in and out of the office (legendary team building events over at West End Johnnies)
    - A great blend of senior level people who have been with the company for years, who go out of their way to mentor their junior employee counterparts
    - The offices are absolutely gorgeous and conveniently located right by North Station
    - The CEO is like a father figure to his employees. He's always walking around giving words of encouragement and is famous for bringing employees in for one on ones, just to see how you're doing inside & outside of the office. Hank takes a genuine interest in his employees lives and regularly gives out bonuses/raises on the spot, just to let us know he appreciates our work. Just picture somebody with the vision of Steve Jobs, the calming demeanor of Morgan Freeman, the business savvy of Andrew Carnegie, the emotional intelligence of Tony Robbins, and the casual comedic brilliance of Chevy Chase
    - It's not uncommon for the CEO to shut down the office for the day and surprise everyone with one of his legendary "surprise field trips" - whether it be a luxury box at the Red Sox, a private tour of a local brewery, or a scavenger hunt around Boston

    Cons

    - I've heard there is high turn over in the Sales & Customer Service departments with more entry level employees.

    Advice to Management

    - Less ice cream socials in the summer months - we've got beach season coming up!

Excellent location, good benefits, fast pace, no two days ever the same.

    Cons

Car traffic in the area getting tough due to local construction.

    Advice to Management

Continue to build other tours in addition to the European rivers. Croatia and Vietnam see like big hits!

Yes, the construction at the moment is unpleasant but temporary and necessary in order to improve the North Station area make it the premier area in Boston to work in. The future here is bright.
