I have been working at Varsity Spirit full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company is very open minded about the people it hires and the company in general starts to feel like family. This company is trying to bring more work back to the states.

    Cons

Ongoing uselessness of certain employees is overlooked. Still tries to pay and be like a mom and pop even though this is the largest cheerleading-centric company that exists. Sexism rears it's ugly head in higher management and sometimes even middle management.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they are worth or they will leave. Yearly performance reviews would be nice. Less sexism in management would also be advised.

I worked at Varsity Spirit (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only pro was my boss and that I had a great job at the time, but that all changed suddenly

    Cons

My entire employment experience was a huge negative with this company. I was recruited for outside the organization and well this company is HIGHLY INBRED with employees that have only ever worked for them. Very closed minded and AFRAID of new things and people. If you are not one of them it is like they go out of there way everyday to let you know that you are an outsider and never really give you a chance to break through the company culture barrier. If you come from the out side you will always be on the OUTSIDE

    Advice to Management

GET OVER YOURSELVES AND GROW INTO THE MODERN AGE

I worked at Varsity Spirit (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The ability to travel and network doing a job you love is priceless. Working for the company who made cheer leading as big as it is today is amazing. You really have an amazing opportunity to see customers happy and make dreams come true.

    Cons

Politics and drama are prevalent in this company. Some of the most caring people work so hard for this brand and have been let go or will never move up. To get far in this company its not how hard you work or how happy you make your customer its where you came from and what you look like. For a company that does so many great things its amazing what really goes on behind the scenes at every level.

    Advice to Management

listen to those who care about your company the most and value their honesty

    Pros

You get to travel and expand your network. Great experience for Athletic Training students as you don't only get athletic training experience, you get management experience as well. Pay is decent. Food and housing is taken care of and you get reimbursed for gas. The more years you work with the company the more you will earn per camp. Office staff is great.

    Cons

The summer camps can start to take a toll on you mentally. You wear out by the end of the summer.

I worked at Varsity Spirit full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work from home, unlimited income meaning the guarded you work the more money you will make, great co workers, fun environment.

    Cons

Management are puppets, never recognized for extra effort, expectations unrealistic. Varsity is just a bully pushing employees around. Pushing clients around to buy things they don't want or need then stabbing them with astronomical shipping charges.

    Advice to Management

Reward sales with affirmations in the very least. Be honest and trust your products will sell.

I have been working at Varsity Spirit full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I am currently a Sales Rep/New Business Specialist, with experience in the corporate office as well. I love Varsity and everything they have to offer. They allow sales reps to work from home with great benefits. Help is always available when needed. And upper management listens to our feedback and is always working to make our jobs easier.

    Cons

Expenses are not paid for: office supplies, gas, extra needed samples, etc. Some internal processes are lengthy and manual, so an update in technology internally would be great.

I have been working at Varsity Spirit full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Not a lot of Red Tape; if you have a question, you can usual go straight to the person needed
    - They are always looking for feedback and use the Reps to be part of the change they implement; always looking to get better.
    - Minimal Management Tiers - works as a pro because there are not too many levels of management - which makes it still a small-feel but big-time company.
    - As a Sales Rep, you work from home and dictate your schedule
    - Use of Technology has really made us a stronger Salesforce - you have the tools do work efficiently.
    - Many tasks and projects to do at once - if you are a multi-tasker, it's great!

    Cons

    - Extremely Limited Opportunity to Move Up; can feel stuck in the same place many times
    - Long Hours (not always a bad thing) and depending on territory, travel can be quite far. In busy season, you are hardly in your office so working late nights and weekends is a must.
    - Not reimbursed for any office supplies, gas, overnight stays for fittings/appointment - all that is on you.
    - Reps have MANY tasks to do and every year, there is more added to your plate. Either you are able to handle it or you sink; not much grey area there.

    Advice to Management

-Create Career Paths for your employees that want to participate in one to let them know they are working towards something and have a path to follow and skills to gain.
