    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Amazing coworkers/support system
    Annual opportunities for travel
    Excellent Benefits

    Cons

Extremely dependent on personal ability to manage time. This is NOT a job for someone who is not extremely organized.

I have been working at Varsity Spirit full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company is very open minded about the people it hires and the company in general starts to feel like family. This company is trying to bring more work back to the states.

    Cons

Ongoing uselessness of certain employees is overlooked. Still tries to pay and be like a mom and pop even though this is the largest cheerleading-centric company that exists. Sexism rears it's ugly head in higher management and sometimes even middle management.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they are worth or they will leave. Yearly performance reviews would be nice. Less sexism in management would also be advised.

I worked at Varsity Spirit (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to travel and expand your network. Great experience for Athletic Training students as you don't only get athletic training experience, you get management experience as well. Pay is decent. Food and housing is taken care of and you get reimbursed for gas. The more years you work with the company the more you will earn per camp. Office staff is great.

    Cons

The summer camps can start to take a toll on you mentally. You wear out by the end of the summer.

"The best company to work for in the Cheer and Dance Industry"

I have been working at Varsity Spirit full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The best company to work for in the Cheer and Dance Industry. The resources available such as full benefits, a 401K plan, and the overall stability in the market are unlike any in the industry. This company is not going anywhere. This company has a flexible work environment offering both in and out of office positions. A company that has events all over the country and even international, and depending on your role allows for travel to incredible locations.

    Cons

The promotion process and ability to move up can be limited depending on what division you work with. I also think they have a hard time letting employees go that are not producing simply because they have been there a long time or are "friends" with everyone.

    Advice to Management

I would love things to be more transparent. A lot is done behind closed doors things like raises, promotions and bonus opportunities are not clear to employees from the beginning. People work harder when they know what they are working for. Getting rid of some of the dead weight increases moral and keeps people motivated to perform at their best.

I have been working at Varsity Spirit full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The flexible hours and ability to set your own schedule can be great. It's great knowing that the company stands behind their products 100%.

    Cons

The hours can be very long given that most appointments occur after school or in the early evenings. The long drive times can be challenging as well.

    Advice to Management

Better maternity leave coverage would be extremely helpful.

    Pros

Upbeat work environment. Staff is fantastic, and products are high quality. Lots of holidays! Opportunity to travel during competition season.

    Cons

Disconnect in information sharing. Product is often late or unavailable. Training is minimal, leading to confusion in new reps and support staff. Benefits somewhat lacking. Jobs are not posted internally... Opportunities for development are minimal

    Advice to Management

Please be more forthcoming with information to internal staff and reps. Upgrade the antiquated computer systems! Allow more employee feedback and ideas!

    Pros

Get to work with great people who have a passion for life and of course cheerleading! Truly a lovely group of smart and dedicated employees.

    Cons

Some of the events require a lot of hours and time, which can be draining. Have to stay upbeat and positive, so working for this company may not suit everyone.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep up with product trends and stay ahead of the curve on branding. Get involved in local communities and continue to provide a positive work environment.

    Pros

Flexible hours, home office, control over your schedule and fun to meet clients directly. Good managment team with great personalities.

    Cons

Very small marketing budget and late deliveries were issues that couldn't seem to get a handle on. At times a disconnect b/t operations and sales.

    Advice to Management

Be more accountable to the rep staff. Needed to bring in more products to compete in this highly competitive market.
