I have been working at Veeco Instruments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities to succeed and grow in the company. Good benefits. I enjoy working in a technology focused company like Veeco.

    Cons

Really depends on the position and business unit. Like most public company there is a drive and expectation for profitable results. These expectations are nothing different than other similar companies.

    Advice to Management

When looking for business growth, sometimes a safer investment with marginal growth is better than a far riskier investment with high upside.

I have been working at Veeco Instruments full-time

    Pros

In sales and business development, Veeco gives the employee plenty of room to be successful.

Veeco does not want to be the next AMAT or Lam, they want to be a successful company to the customers it serves

Very knowledgeable and supportive customer service organization.

    Fiscally responsible

    Cons

Veeco needs to be careful not to grow too fast inorganically

I have been working at Veeco Instruments full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Technology that is dying due to resignations of all the amazing technology guys.
Good Engineers that are resigning every week due to zero bonus, negative growth (promotions and then demotions due to reorg) and 60+ hours work week.

    Cons

Worst workplace I have ever worked for. This company is full of greedy, arrogant VPs who are continuously lying to senior management regarding market share, product performance, competitive scenario, customer feedback etc. just to keep their job safe. Huge investments and failures with ALD (Freemont Acquisition), Power Electronics, PSP (Horsham Acquisition) are clear example of that clueless-ness of Senior Management and deceitful nature of VPs/ GMs.

Candidates should think 1,000 times before joining this wannabe Semiconductor company in East Coast. In the beginning, It may offer good salary to grab talents from Silicon Valley but then employees get stuck with incompetent management, zero bonus, constant fear of lay offs and negative morale. 3 big lay offs in last 6 months, 30+ resignations in last 3 months and multiple rejected offers are clear example of the ugly situation at Veeco. Read all the reviews on Glassdoor (except fake ones), talk to past employees before joining this company and if you have already joined this deathbed then try to run as fast as you can and as quickly as you can !

    Advice to Management

You are responsible for ruining careers and squashing aspirations. Start being human instead of money machine.

    Pros

"A place for high performing people" is a common statement you hear at Veeco and it is certainly true. A lot is asked from Veeco but also a lot is given. For people seeking their boundaries - Training and mentorship is provided for those who want to contribute more. Company financial background is solid plus being No. one in all important markets served: Thin film, Wet etch etc... - Clearly dominate over various competition.
Culture and compensation are good and professional. If you want to know how far you can go - This is a place to go.

    Cons

Not everyone can stand the speed / take the challenge. With conservative top management - headcount sometimes is lean which can result in increased workload to individuals. This is no place for "nine to five"

Work on a daily basis with new and innovative technology
    Strong, team building atmosphere
Very good position in the marketplace
    Competitive compensation structure

    Cons

    Pros

I have been working at Veeco full time for approximately one year.

What I like about the Company?

    - Driven Executive Team with a vision to grow the Company significantly Organically and
       Inorganically.
    - Fast moving, dynamic environment.
    - Leading Edge Technology.
    - Super Smart people who are confident but don't come with an Ego.
    - Collaborative Team Environment where everyone just wants to get on and do better.
    - Trust that Management have in Employees.
    - Growth potential and investment into people and infrastructure to enable that growth.

The Veeco environment is really a refreshing place to work in, where decisions are made fast and people are challenged to develop and contribute.

    Cons

What I do not like about the Company?
Veeco is already a leading technology company in the Semiconductor industry and is expanding at a significant rate through organic and Inorganic growth.
Veeco must continue to bring in best talent and improve processes and infrastructure to serve this market at a Best In Class level. There is still plenty of potential to improve.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be ambitious and add to the portfolio to move the needle over next years.
Further invest in people and infrastructure to drive growth.
