    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Ventura County Office of Education full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

working with other good, hard-working, dedicated people, that want to make life better for our teachers and students and schools, that also endure the selfishness and knuckleheadedness of management and upper management.

    Cons

be careful what you say, the nice HR directors are gone. If they don't like you, all managements love to move the joyful, dedicated, hardworking employees. be seen, not heard and stay under the radar, to keep your job here. High turnaround and lots of forced shifting of employees in many departments. repeating management retaliation. toxic environment

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Ventura County Office of Education part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The students the students the students and most of the teachers and fellow paras. If being apart of helping children succeed using creative and innovative way this is your job. Be willing to play again. Be willing to get dirty. Go home tired and say wow I get to go do it again tomorrow.

    Cons

Unless they have been a Para or a Teacher all Administrative positions have no clue what we do all day. Added demands beyond the time given to meet needs of students.

I have been working at Ventura County Office of Education for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of training, decent wages, current office software, and lots of collaboration between the main office, district schools and support staff. Special Ed schools are staffed by the most engaged and dedicated teachers, therapists, nurses and support staff I've ever worked with.

    Cons

A bit difficult to find a full-time position there since few ever leave their positions.

I worked at Ventura County Office of Education

    Pros

Allows you to see if you have a love for special needs children. And if you want to become a teacher for mild or moderate special needs children. Gets you behind the scenes of what a school day is like, what a para does and what a teacher does. And you are able to work with children with a wide range of disabilities.

    Cons

You are placed into a classroom as a sub, and you aren't told much of the children at all. You are just kind of thrown into the classroom and some teachers expect you to know how to work with each child.

    Pros

Rewarding to support student learning/care. Good benefits. Average pay scale.

    Cons

Focus has shifted to individual's (management) agendas rather than the needs of students and those who provide direct service.
