I have been working at Ventura Foods full-time

    Pros

Great company culture. People are very nice and most of them are great at their jobs.

Regular financial and performance updates from Executive Management despite being a private company.

Good work/life balance. Not having to respond to emails all hours of the day is nice. Able to take real vacations where you can disconnect completely.

    Cons

Lack of focus on employee development and retention. People are leaving for other promotional opportunities because they are non-existent here.

Slow to promote even its highest level performers despite multiple years in a row of exceptional performance.

I have been working at Ventura Foods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, not great. Good bennies.

    Cons

No Personal Assistants when you arrive at times. They like to hurry the cleaning thing a ridiculous amount. To the point were it can't be done correctly, just quickly.

    Advice to Management

Take your time with the CIP's. Do you want a clean facility, or one that gets you in to a lawsuit for unhealthy food, or a customer coming in, and leaving because the trash cans are absolutely disgusting, because we don't have time to clean them.

I worked at Ventura Foods full-time

    Pros

The people here are fantastic! Everyone is SO nice. People don’t backstab. The atmosphere is not stressful. And the area around the office is beautiful - yet close to everything.

    Cons

There is absolutely no focus on career management here. If you want to grow your skill set, get promoted etc, this is not the place.

Senior leadership operates in a vacuum - they seem to only want to interact with each other, which 1) means no exposure for those that are actually doing the work 2) leads to bad decision making.

    Advice to Management

Ventura Foods has been losing amazing talent - especially lately. There has to be a focus on career growth to retain smart people. Otherwise this trend will continue and the company will be left without one of their greatest assets - the people.

I worked at Ventura Foods full-time

    Pros

    Affordable and good health insurance

    Cons

Workload unevenly split between employees within same job title.

    Advice to Management

Run weekly reports to monitor work load/output and listen to employees. No work/life balance for some while others can enjoy evenings, weekends and can even take vacations - others cannot.

I have been working at Ventura Foods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay. The only positive.

    Cons

    Racist management and staff.
    Corrupt HR and Union involvement.
    Rats in production.
The worst management I have ever been privy to. Have no clue how to delegate and what is actually going on.

    Advice to Management

Find someone else to manage the entire company head to toe. You are not even capable of putting proper supervisors in charge. Get a clue. Get good lawyers for racism lawsuits that will probably end up on your doorstep.
