I worked at Vera Bradley part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employee discount was amazing and I loved that it didn't exclude anything besides the collegiate collection. With the right people around, it was a pleasant place to work at.

    Cons

The company is pretty hard on us about sales and reaching our daily sales goals. Some days it is not difficult, like during the holidays or summertime when more people are at the mall. However, during the school year there is barely anyone at the mall yet they expected us to reach our goal.

    Pros

Great company values, decent pay, room for advancement.

    Cons

Training was mostly focused on product knowledge, not future manager duties (scheduling, processing payroll, hiring new talent, etc.)

I worked at Vera Bradley part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There's a lot of cool things that community does as outreach. The Vera Bradley Foundation and Girl's Best Friend are some amazing things you can contribute to when working there. I worked at a Factory store which is a much different experience than full-line.

    Cons

The biggest con was management. I went through two managers over the two year period that I worked there. Neither of them took the time to make sure all the employees were trained the same way. This would cause problems on the sales floor where some employees were told to do things one way and some another way. Also, most customers aren't familiar with the differences between factory and full line. This caused a bit of tension because they would sometimes come into our store expecting what they saw online or patterns/styles from years ago.

    Advice to Management

Make sure all your employees have a basic knowledge of the styles/patterns that are sold online verses the ones that you can offer in your store.

I worked at Vera Bradley part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible schedules
    Great discount (however slowly changing)
    Beautiful product
    Fun environment
Sales Associates have good pay for retail
Stock Associations are paid very well for retail

    Cons

Stock Associates are being paid more than Team Leads/key holders
Dress code requires mostly uncomfortable shoes
Strict attendance policy where a tardy holds the same weight as an absence

    Advice to Management

Pay team leads/key holders more than stock associates because their responsibilities are held much higher.
Create tardy policy that allows at least a 3-5 minute grace period & let 3 tardy clock ins equal an absence vs 1 tardy equaling 1 absence.

I worked at Vera Bradley full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I loved the customer service culture. Overall they have a great thing going with how much they cater to their consumer because the demographic matches that. I love the job, it's simple minded work.

    Cons

Disconnect between DM>SM>ASM. The SM is a butt kisser and the DM is too oblivious to see what is going on in the store because she visits maybe once every 3/4 months. The visit consists of the SM and DM chatting it up in the back and doing some dingy "store walk." Team members were being belittled and disrespected. Favoritism is the SM's management style. Once you're on her bad side it's kind of a point of no return. All the SM does is keep the office seat warm and act like work is so hard when all she has to get done is scheduling...which was horrid anyways. Two managers closing during the week and then one manager on the weekend evening shift (team lead). Coverage was never in the right places anyway.

    Advice to Management

Invest your time in your management team as a whole, not just the SM.
