I worked at Vera Institute Of Justice as an intern

    Pros

Incredibly dedicated, innovative, and passionate people. Beautiful working environment. Nice lunch lounge and great location in NYC. Can have a good work-life balance if you keep it a priority.

    Cons

Staff hierarchies are clear. Turnover is consistent as people often up in rank at other organizations.

    Advice to Management

Create opportunities for promotion for junior staff. Keep salary and benefits competitive.

I worked at Vera Institute Of Justice full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent exposure to high level execs or other decision makers, various writing experiences, really intelligent colleagues.

    Cons

High turnover (at the time), and low retention of diverse candidates (at the time); there was also minimal opportunities for at work professional development. A lot of restructuring has happened under N. Turner so these issues may not be as significant as before.

I worked at Vera Institute Of Justice as an intern

    Pros

I love working in the DC office. As interns, we were given a lot of hands on experience.

    Cons

The only con is this internship is not a paid one.

    Pros

Great as an internship; I really enjoyed it. Supervisor was very nice. Cannot speak to regular job experience, and I really only worked with one person. But I recommend it to students - also, it was a paid internship, which is great.

    Cons

It would have been nice to work under and gotten to know better multiple people, but it makes sense logistically why that could have been difficult.
