I have been working at Verathon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people. Smart people. Relaxed atmosphere. Flexibility. Interesting and varied projects. Upcoming product releases look exiting. Very transparent management. I have never been in a company where all the plans and numbers are shared so freely.

    Cons

None so far. The old, tired building is being remodeled this year and looks to be very nice.

I worked at Verathon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Team building survived beyond Verathon, great customers

    Cons

Horrific mamagement, atmosphere of fear, ignorance and mediocrity rewarded, misogynism, neither customers nor quality of product valued, HR department is a joke. No one trusts them.

    Advice to Management

Patronizing attitude and humble bragging about your Harvard MBA is offputting. We're not fools and many of us have degrees we don't bring up at every company meeting. These clowns work at different companies together (Abbott for instance) then bring each other on.

I have been working at Verathon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you don't want to work hard or develop your career, this is as good a place as any. Outside Sales has good market share.

    Cons

"The running joke around here is your company never does XXXX right" is actually a frequent saying from Verathon's customers and it's embarrassing. No one knows how anything gets done because of all lost knowledge when people quit. From top to bottom the majority people at HQ have been employed for less than 2 years. Since the beginning of 2018 over 90 people have left the company. Here's why:

The culture is toxic with absolutely no accountability for mistakes or impact on other departments. This becomes the place where you won't try your hardest because it's impossible to outweigh the negligence and mismanagement of others. Senior managers blows smoke up the executives' arses and everyone pretends the ship isn't on fire.

If your job isn't related to what numbers the executives 'leaders' can show to the parent company then you're invisible. There is no focus on efficiency or customers, only the bottom line on a power point presentation.

The pay is 15-35% lower than market standard for corporate jobs in Seattle, recruiters and managers lie about bonuses. The company does not promote from within or develop employees for growth.

    Advice to Management

WAKE UP. A cheap remodel, a set of 'values' and a new system isn't going to retain talent. Understand and organize your processes. Recognize your key contributors before they jump ship. Pay a market standard wage. Stop lying about deadlines in your employee meetings.

I worked at Verathon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None really. Made some good friends.

    Cons

Management was a joke. They formed inappropriate relationships with their direct reports, people were afraid to go to HR - HR was never a help...worst HR department I ever encountered. Extremely high turnover and extra work was always dumped onto employees when people left. Extremely political. No support from management when issues would come up.

    Advice to Management

Really take the time and listen to employees. Support them. Don't tolerate bad behavior.

I have been working at Verathon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interviewers unanimously showed excitement about company direction
Positively viewed by friends & former coworkers that were recently hired
Focused on building company culture after some high turnover years
Offers meaningful work and ability to make an impact on the world

    Cons

Interview process stretched over several months (glad I waited)
Pace of development feels much different in such a highly regulated industry

    Advice to Management

Continue driving positive changes that have started

I worked at Verathon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Verathon's products are inspiring and allow a certain level of pride for employees. Many employees are hard workers and go the extra mile to achieve lofty goals.

    Cons

Management needs a wake up call. RETAIN YOUR TALENTED EMPLOYEES!!! Verahton's retention levels are absolutely atrocious and that has been the norm for several years now. Talented employees are overworked, underappreciated and that leads directly to their attrition levels. Verathon's executive leadership team needs to find a way to listen to the employees without the manager's filter to see what is really going on with them. I think that Verathon's middle management is the real problem and is not sending the right message to the executive team about the needs of the employees and how best to deliver to Verathon's goals.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees directly. Identify the REAL contributors to the company and pick their brains about what Verathon really needs.

STOP allowing managers to hire friends of theirs without interviewing other candidates that may be better qualified. This is a huge cancer that only creates disgruntled employees.

    I worked at Verathon full-time

    Pros

Broad product lines, profitable, and good market share.

    Cons

Bottom line focused exclusively. No career path in the lower to middle ranks. Management wants to only hear good news.

    Advice to Management

With social media, everyone knows this is not a good place for a long term career, except for those in the good old boys club in Seattle and in Florida (holding company that owns Verathon).

I have been working at Verathon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

CEO and Sr. Staff are new (about a year into their time) and are clearly doing all of the right things. Employees are treated like they matter, the new product roadmap is brilliant and there is a lot of opportunity to create, excel, participate and learn.

    Cons

Very little downside. If I had to pick one thing, it would be the old and disparate systems but there is an aggressive and well funded plan to solve this problem during 2018.

    Advice to Management

Keep going on the path we're on!
