You work for "free" for every student for the FIRST lesson; very HIGH comisssion fees!

    Pros

Decent website and timely response from customer service.

    Cons

I was in complete and utter shock when I found out that for EVERY student, Verbling takes the full amount of the FIRST lesson. YES, you are essentially working for FREE for EVERY student who books you for the first time! The student still pays, but Verbling keeps the money of the first lesson. What's even more ridiculous are their EXTREMELY HIGH commission fees they charge. It's absolutely ludicrous how "difficult" they make it for teachers to reach a threshold that lowers their commission fees. This company is making a cash cow off of gullible teachers. I have worked with over 5 other similar companies like Verbling, and I wouldn't return to Verbling for any reason. I value my time and money, and I'm not interested in teaching for free nor for very high commission fees! No thanks!

Verbling is the best thing that ever happened to me. I recommend it to EVERYONE now.

    Pros

-You can set your own schedule. -You get to meet students from around the world who are genuinely interested in learning English -You get to use your own teaching materials. -Some students don't want a real lesson. Some students just want to talk with you for an hour about random topics like what's happening in the news recently, culture, movies, etc. -The students on Verbling are KIND and friendly. They WANT to learn. -The verbling staff are SO polite! SO SO POLITE. Whenever I have a question, I am not afraid to email them. They always get back to me quickly and tell me the right things to do. -You can choose to unschedule a lesson if an emergency situation comes up and you will not be penalized for it. -Students can also choose to cancel. If they do it suddenly before the lesson, verbling will compensate you for half of the lesson. -Verbling pays you for your "Free trial lessons" so it makes you more excited to provide them. -My students will tell their friends about me. I will get more students that way. -Verbling does a good job of advertising. -Verbling lets you cash out your payments EVERY WEEK. You will get paid through PayPal. I love it. -Verbling does not take a big cut of your earnings. -You can do Verbling in your free time, which is when most of the students would like to learn anyways (early mornings, afternoons, weekends) -Verbling sets goals for you and tries to help you reach your goals. - I love how you can choose what kind of teacher you want. Like an English teacher that speaks Chinese. Or a chinese teacher that speaks Spanish. Overall, Verbling is the best thing that ever happened to me. It helps me with grocery money. It helps me pay my rent. It is a lifesaver. I love everything about it and I recommend it to all of my friends.

    Cons

It's really difficult to think of the cons of Verbling. I guess sometimes you will receive messages from men around the world who don't want to pay for lessons, but want to speak with you because you are "beautiful." However, you can just choose to not reply to them. I've found that most people who really want to learn English will book your trial session without even speaking to you first.

Love the freedom, doesn't seem to be a wide base of students.

    Pros

I chose my schedule and did my own lesson plans and chose the wages I wanted.

    Cons

I only got intermittent students. The students I did get were very professional, for the most part, and eager to learn. I just wish it was more steady.
