    Pros

Pre November 2014, Verengo Solar was the greatest company I had ever worked for. I finally felt like being a salesman could have purpose in life through the vision of Dave Schotz, our head of call center at the time. Amazing work environment and hands down the greatest management team a sales professional could ask for.

    Cons

At the peak when all of the mom and pops were being sold off or closing their doors, Verengo was still moving forward, making right decisions to fix the back end problems that every solar company deals with. Many many poor management decisions spiraled out of control after a large investment firm came in, ran sabre metrics against our company and it became the biggest Band-Aid upon Band-Aid fiasco. they fired more than 60% of the staff in less than a year, shut down the highest rebate market they were in, isolated to one area of Cali, and essentially hit the reset button on a 13 year old company.

    Advice to Management

    Good Luck

    Pros

Most coworkers were fun to work with, call center environment that attempted to be engaging and recognize good performance

    Cons

Commission structure was always changing, constant hiring and firing of sales people, always felt like a revolving door with no stability in paycheck. Leads were definitely funneled to the favorite top dogs and leaving low quality leads for new folks making it hard for new people to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Keep the commission structure fair and stable

I worked at Verengo Solar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They used to have a great work environment with a lot of flexibility with schedule and paid well. Was a dream job

    Cons

Recently, they have laid off their entire outside sales team in the whole company and they just this year laid off their entire canvassing program. (I was in the canvassing program last year and was fortunate enough to get out before that happened, but it left many of my friends unemployed because they kept lying about their stability as a company and assuring everyone they had nothing to worry about and left them unprepared.

    Advice to Management

Please start telling the truth to your employees.

    Pros

They had five days of very good intensive training. I was really excited about the company at that point, but that is where it stopped.

    Cons

High pressure sales once you are on the job even though they say they aren't into that during training. They want the close on the first visit.
