I worked at Verengo Solar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most coworkers were fun to work with, call center environment that attempted to be engaging and recognize good performance

    Cons

Commission structure was always changing, constant hiring and firing of sales people, always felt like a revolving door with no stability in paycheck. Leads were definitely funneled to the favorite top dogs and leaving low quality leads for new folks making it hard for new people to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Keep the commission structure fair and stable

I worked at Verengo Solar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They used to have a great work environment with a lot of flexibility with schedule and paid well. Was a dream job

    Cons

Recently, they have laid off their entire outside sales team in the whole company and they just this year laid off their entire canvassing program. (I was in the canvassing program last year and was fortunate enough to get out before that happened, but it left many of my friends unemployed because they kept lying about their stability as a company and assuring everyone they had nothing to worry about and left them unprepared.

    Advice to Management

Please start telling the truth to your employees.

I worked at Verengo Solar (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast working environment when the company is busy. Met a lot of really dedicated and hard working employees/ co-workers.

    Cons

Many many layoffs and employees left are responsible for picking up the extra workflow. Lack of training unless you are in sales. Very slow when the company has no leads.

    Advice to Management

Keep your word and stick the the core values that were in place when the old management team was around. Recognize those who are the hardest working and most dedicated.

    Pros

Generous in training. Flew me to Terrance for 2 weeks for daily full day training. I get to fly home for the weekend.

    Cons

Dynamic company. Laid off the entire Nor-Cal outside sales team a month of the training.

    Pros

You make good money when you actually try and get out there to set appointments and get leads. Hourly plus commission.

    Cons

The solar industry is hard to work with being that everyone gets hit up. Door knocking gets harder and harder.

    Advice to Management

Need more incentive for canvassers. They shouldn't be firing them or getting rid of the team.

I worked at Verengo Solar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with amazing people and making great friends.

    Cons

The outlook of the company is looking incredibly negative! Sales aren't being meat, no growth, consistent layoffs. Lots of work expectations with little compensation. Little communication between upper management to "lower-level" employees.

    Advice to Management

Keep your staff in the loop! Change your upper management, there are so many people that hold higher positions and literally don't do anything in the company and everyone questions why they're still employed

I have been working at Verengo Solar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you worked here, you'd prob make several good career connections and friendships.

    Cons

The new crew of executives is clique-y... Doesn't always feel we're on the same team anymore. No job security.

    Advice to Management

Come down to earth and talk to your employees.
And teach recruiting to write more authentic sounding reviews.

    Pros

Easy to get into if you can jive with their "squeezing blood from a turnip" leads.
Thankfully, most of managements "requirements" are just bluster at the moment because they lost most of their good reps.
    Decent benefits, PTO/sick days.

    Cons

oh boy. The past 6-8 months has not been good for this company, or rather for it's employees. Despite the constant "everything's always sunny" attitude of management, This company is in a rather dark place. Upper management constantly changing from one month to the next, every change brings a complete overhaul in direction. They "refocused into smaller markets" which basically means they laid off about 1/2 of their overall workforce, and then cut a lot of their marketing. Everyone but the tip-top of sales and reps is basically pulling in about 60% of what we were pulling in last year.

    Advice to Management

For those of you who actually stick around for longer than a month; good luck keeping the quality people you guys had a year ago on what you are paying them now. A lot of promises and not much actual delivery. Funny how we have all the talk of sacrifice when Verengo was on the ropes and yet we're "profitable" now and the sacrifice just became the new norm.

Advice to people looking for a job here: keep on looking.
