      Payments Industry! Need I say more. Payments is a fascinating industry so working at Verifone will give you exposure to the payments ecosystem (If you are curious AND NOT shut down easily by insecure cororkers).

      Cons

      The company needs some good software leadership, engineering (Average at best Management team) & Product (Not truly product but more engineering) teams specifically. I would avoid this company till true software/financial industry veterans come in to run a global complex financial technology company rather than average managers (Note the emphasis on managers (NOT LEADERS)) who frankly don't inspire any confidence in their capabilities or experience. On their best day, managers are average, imagine how they are on average or not so good days! Very poorly trained managers on all levels. Imagine managers who start their relationships with statements like "Fame and shame is the best way to motivate people", or "I am set in my ways and know what I want and how to get it, so usually I will just tell you what to do and HOW, you just go just do it". Critical thinking and a collaborative spirit is stifled. What is interesting is that the CEO can be heard asking the question "Hey John Smith: What do you think should be done?" but overall very few managers ask others how and what should be done. Its almost like feedback is not welcome as a select few have all the answers. Very top down org. This is not just my experience within my sphere of interaction, seen the attitude with multiple folks and teams. Communication and feedback loop is also missing, and too many silos created to protect turf. The environment is very toxic, lots of lip service but no true team spirit. With so much attrition and layoffs as Verifone has gone through, the environment is not conducive for growth, professional and personal. For now the company does not inspire any product confidence and it shows in product development and implementation. Interestingly the managers even blame the customers for the issues rather than accepting the fact that it's an internal Verifone problem. Lots of finger pointing and blame game to go around. This also is a North America problem to a large extent, some other regions show a remarkable team spirit and innovation/results.

      I had a job for a time.

      The software they have is a nightmare (awful code. With more awful code built on top when they added new products). The training was a joke. You start out as a contractor and some people had been there as contractors for 10 years-being promised by management that they were working to get them hired. There was a large layoff when the company was trying to make itself look better to be sold . Doing this just really pissed off what they call Tier III reps. They were supposed to be the POC for help with issues and a mentor for the Tier II reps. These agents held most of the knowledge of how the software worked and all the protocols. Out of like 6 of the Original only 2 stayed. The ones that were not laid off, quite after finding new jobs, some just quit in protest of how the layoff was handled. The tier III’s old and new- had no training on how to mentor people. They were all short tempered, arrogant, rude and disrespectful. They had such a high turn over due to all these reasons- training didn’t match what was happening on the floor & the people you were supposed to go to for help were ugly and made you feel stupid (as a human not just as a new person or even as someone who had been there for 3 years). Supervisors were just as bad they would discipline agents II and III in front of everyone this is not how I was trained to handled things. This however was a learned behavior and the Supervisor’s Management treated them the same way. Screaming at them, telling them they were stupid in front of the agents- this is just not how you do things. This place was a chain wreck with the original owners and it only got worse with the new ones. Also most people had not had a raise there in 5 or more years ( most ranging in the “or more years “ category). It truly sucked to get laid off due to COVID (and the company took that chance to open a new call center in Arizona).
