I worked at Verisign full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good gym, and close by washington dc, in reston.

    Cons

Terrible management, narrow focus, unclear goals, plans keep changing, everyone worried about their job so innovation is a word rather than an actual thing.

    Advice to Management

Fire those who pick fights, and consider the job as a retirement place

I worked at Verisign full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people- worked with a great group of individuals.
    Good cafeteria
    Great onsite gym

    Cons

Too many policies and no real benefits. Not really a technology company- works like a bank.

    Telecommuting is not allowed
Employees are expected to travel for work but are not allowed to stay back and use PTO- have to return immediately (another policy)
Arrival and departure times are monitored by HR - they run reports to see when someone comes in and leaves the building
    No innovation
CEO only worries about stock price and shareholders- not the people who work for him
Compensation used to be good but HR/CFO is gradually taking everything away (Bonus, stock etc).

    Advice to Management

Start trusting your employees, change the policies driven culture, and be open to innovation. If you don't make these changes, this company will never grow.

I have been working at Verisign full-time

    Pros

Minting money and will do so for a few years to come

    Cons

But the well is drying-up and the company has been unsuccessful in turning direction. Things will get ugly over the coming year as projections of negative growth will cause finger-pointing.
Founder CEO has lost touch and lives a bubble when the 1st Clinton was President.

    Advice to Management

    None - they already know

I have been working at Verisign full-time

    Pros

Company has great products and technology. It's pleasure working with smart people. In my team we are always motivated to think outside the box. Analysis is done to the deepest level and technical brainstorming is thorough. Detailed planning is expected from every member of the team.
Apart from great learning opportunity, company provides great benefits. Flexible work hours, best work-life balance, on-site 24x7 full fledged gym facility with instructor training, in campus basket ball, tennis courts, great location in Reston.

    Cons

Due to cut throat competition among team members, everyone tries to please the supervisor leading to politics and favoritism. Higher management encourages to identify 2 champions per team and feed them with all accolades. This leads to complacency of top 2 and demoralization of other team members. Some managers are very macro managers and don't take critics positively.
other cons: Very slow promotion, if you are in good book you will be promoted irrespective of your skills, talent; many deserving good engineers leave due to no promotion.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your engineers about their managers. Find the better way to retain good engineers. Most social employee is not the best employee.

I have been working at Verisign full-time

    Pros

Good benefits; nice office; sense that CEO cares about employees; leadership effort to get feedback from employees; some efforts to move people laterally, if requested

    Cons

Very IT-centered, causing support staff to sometimes feel like outsiders; experience can vary a lot based on direct line of management

    Advice to Management

There is no need to force the use of humor at meetings; don't be secretive about employee role changes when honesty would quell rumors
