    Advice to Management

recognize employees for the their efforts, not the managers who take credit for what their employees do

I have been working at Verisign full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits like medical , subsidized cafeteria, underground parking in town center , mobile phone to almost all employees , work life balance as in 8-9 hours in office and none to few hours per month working on weekends. Open environment and you can share your point of view and management encourages innovation and ideas. awesome gym and building in heart of reston.

    Cons

No Promotions , almost impossible as employees are stable having almost more than 4-5 yrs and 10, 15, 20, 25 yrs at verisign. there are no companies around this area so people cant change and dont move. No Promotions means boring environment sometimes as people dont have any motivational factor.

Traffic is really really bad in this area and company doesnt encourage Working from Home , where most of companies in this area are changing and asking employees to work from home atleast once/twice a week .

No Sick Leaves/ less Paid Leaves /no work from home option --- makes employees work life balance little hard especially when they are sick or weather is bad.

    Advice to Management

Encourage Working from home/ If not encourage, then let people work from home if they can and want to , i am sure it never impact work . People deliver more good work when they get the flexibility rather than sitting at desk whole day .

Employ more younger people to have more fun and excitement at work place, its boring .

Target on new markets with new exciting products in security space.

    Have more employee friendly benefits

    Pros

    Can't really think of any.

    Cons

    Horrible management from the top.
Over pay and sell cheap so many different smaller companies that don't align with company lines.
Managers don't push back work but only push down to staff. Managers or others don't support staff. Literally worked 1,000 hours overtime each year for 2 years. Last year 2009.
    Worked in finance accounting.

I worked at Verisign full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The stock purchasing program is extremely strong.
Senior leadership is committed to growing the core competencies and shareholder value.
Dress code is casual and the atmosphere is generally friendly.
Benefits are on the medium-strong end for the industry.
Workers are generally well managed with little waste.

    Cons

No dedicated sick days - meaning that employees often come to work sick and spread germs in order to save PTO for vacations.
Inward job mobility is limited and is not as accepted within the culture as much as with many other companies.
Certain teams (mine included) can be extremely overloaded with work - meaning late nights and weekends. Work-enjoyment level varies significantly from team to team.
Company does little to promote volunteerism.
Recent cost-cutting efforts across the board have frustrated employees (but perhaps please investors).
Workforce is generally fairly mature - not a lot of young people, and limited "fresh ideas".

    Advice to Management

Focus on adding to the work-life balance for over-burdened teams, and on growing programs like college-hiring. More young people creates a more vibrant and energetic workplace.

I have been working at Verisign full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and on-site company subsidized cafeteria.

    Cons

Cross-functional work is quite challenging; compensation fairness is questionable - negotiate a good package before joining because adjustments to bring you equal to market rates is impossible; work life balance is acknowledged at the corporate level but diminishes at the departmental level; remote work discouraged; annual evaluation process is skewed to manager's favorites

    Advice to Management

Encourage cross-functional collaboration and break down the barriers, we all work for the same company and are driving to the same goal. Stop the fire drills, they are counter productive.

I have been working at Verisign full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Extremely talented field. Always learning something new. Plenty of opportunities to grow as an IT pro. Great pay and benefits.

    Cons

IT Management has issues being decisive and telling the customer no. Too many redundant internal applications. Work hours are not as flexible as they could/should be.

    Advice to Management

Prioritize internal applications and work on improving processes. Begin a WFH program....the traffic is terrible around here!
