I have been working at Verisk Analytics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nice people, good work/life balance

    Cons

Outdated bell curve performance review process demotivates top performers, poorly designed open office space hinders productivity, managers only interested in their own career and moving into the corner office, raises are minimal even if you're a top performer

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the outdated bell curve performance management system. The company's best asset is your employees. By penalizing your top performers by lumping them in the middle, you penalize the company overall. Plus, you lose your best people to competitors who value their talent and recognize and reward them more fairly.

I worked at Verisk Analytics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

For many years, I was happy at Verisk and received excellent reviews for decades. Until I voiced an opinion that didn't coincide with the managers'.

    Cons

No freedom to be honest. Little real diversity. Superficial company culture

    Advice to Management

Welcome employee input instead of fearing it, retaliating against it. Scaring employees into silence doesn't mean they agree with you. Stop pitting people against each other and playing favorites. Micromanaging is out of control and destroying morale.

I worked at Verisk Analytics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work from home 1-2 days a week, but that depends on your manager. NJ office is upgraded and has a nice cafe and new innovation lounge.

    Cons

HR does not take action after complaints. C-level executives like to turn the other way and support only employees that have been around for 20+ years. C-level managers are mostly, if not all white men, no diversity - and promotions are extremely hard.

The Verisk Way is to have you wear multiple hats and work on multiple jobs, that do not relate to your job. If you do not agree - then they tell you that you may not be fit for their corporate culture.

    Advice to Management

Let go of all managers that have worked at the company for 15+ years. If you consider yourself to be an innovate company, then you have to release the old school, micro managing people who like to control and devalue staff.

HR - when there are employees that are stressed and report activities that are considered verbally abusive and not right - do something about it.
