I worked at Verizon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are plenty of good career opportunities at Verizon due to the sheer size and scope of the company, and it's a great place to learn about the telecom and technology industries. The company has excellent benefits such as tuition reimbursement, and there is a culture that cherishes employee development. Lastly, there are a lot of great people who work at the company, and it's possible to create a good work/life balance.

    Cons

Verizon employees have to contend with a large bureaucracy as the company has over 150,000 employees worldwide. As a result, it takes time to figure out how to get things done. Growth is becoming more challenging due to the competitive dynamics of the telecom industry. It's unclear how long it will take for Verizon to successfully navigate the changing environment.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on finding new areas of growth to offset the challenging dynamics of the telecom industry.

Since it was a union shop everything is done on seniority basis and when I started I was working late on Friday and getting out at 5 on Saturday. They then changed the hours to working late on Saturdays also which was very difficult on my family life so I left.
