I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits with decent pay. When started working here it was one of the best places to work. Everyone seemed to get along and help one another out.

    Cons

The last four years have been a total nightmare. They started terminating temp hires. Now there are not enough employees to do the work. Their solution: start replacing core employees with contractors that can not do the work.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees like slaves and the moral will improve along with your bottom line.

I worked at Verizon full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Great pay and benefits .

    Cons

    1) Direction constantly changes - you could change managers three times within a year.
    2) You are invisible as an employee
    3) Getting important information about what is going on is like working at the Kremlin.
    4) If you have to represent Verizon to a customer, be ready to be embarrassed almost daily due to leaderships lack of support to provide contract deliverables on time or even at all.
    5) If you're in sales, OMG - I feel your pain in trying to sell things that don't work.
    6) Sales runs everything even if they have no idea about IT, Marketing, Finance, Legal.

    Advice to Management

Focus on just what you want to do instead of trying to do everything. Have skip level meetings so you can get details on what's going wrong. Let sales people just run sales and let other professionals do their JOB and support them. Why do you think revenue keeps declining and customers keep leaving? READ your contracts before you let them out the door.
