I worked at Verizon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, candy store, smart people, challenges serve as life learning experiences if you want to be positive but that's about it

    Cons

There are people that have been here for 30+ years who love to resist change and innovation. The office just smells stale when you walk in. Extremely political environment. Vanity projects that waste money left and right. Having a baby? Don't even think about it. Get ready to pump in your car because people fight over the 2 lactation rooms (on a massive campus with thousands of people). I've never worked with racially insensitive people in my life until working here, which makes it hard to focus and thrive. Too many examples of inappropriate things said in the office, I can only laugh back at it. "Let me introduce you to another Oriental, you guys can be friends." Ummm, what? The whole experience = emotional and mental fatigue.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the poisonous personalities. Support the moms of your company.

I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love it here. Been with VZ for 2 years and while there are challenges - political, process and financial I find the challenges keep my brain stimulated.

    Cons

Some groups have some pretty overwhelming processes that get in the way of getting work done and can have a significant impact on project schedules. Also these processes are not well documented, often tasks go into a black box with no visibility and no completion dates provided.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing to break down the old school ways of doing things, perhaps standardize processes and tools across business units. It's challenging to learn different processes and tools when you're asking for the exact same task to be performed by different business units.

    Pros

Great pay, better benefits and I was able to expand my network of contacts.

    Cons

While they pay great, it is retail, which requires long hours and weekends unless requested off.

    Advice to Management

Would love to see more hands on trainings at store level. Toward the end of my employment I did, and it works!
