I have been working at Verizon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefit package, 401k match up to 6%, Tuition assistance. Yearly STI bonus, pay merit increases every year. (This all takes work...)

    Cons

Stress, stress and more stress. Seems like integrity has left the building, micro managing now at an all time high, irate customers all the time due to policy changes that are supposed to "benefit" the customer but in reality don't. High call volume. Unfair surveys with a more unfair overturn policy.

    Advice to Management

Be more helpful to the reps, we are the front line handling this difficult calls. Also start handling calls with integrity and making the right decisions based on the situation. If we are wrong, allow us to fix it as you say not get push back not to. Also you want to implement all these changes I get it but while those changes are implemented you should be more mindful when it comes to surveys. When I first started working her we had 1 survey a day, then 3 sometimes at one point I had gotten 6 in one day. I do my job and never failed one but still that's added stress to my day along with already dealing with irate situations. Also when I first started the company seemed like it was more pro employee now it's all about the company and the employees are at the back end. Also I valued our credo and our integrity. We now seem to have shifted to a company with less to no integrity all just to make our metrics and not actually do what's right for the company anymore. Also if we are in care, don't make us up sell and or even focus on sales we have specified departments for that. Even tier 1 transfers because guess what sometimes customers want to speak to tech directly which still results in a failed survey and a 360 from tech. Moving up is hard too, you take this job also with the expectations that advancement always happens yet all reps that advance get sent back to care after a 6 month rotational. I dunno I guess this company is not doing business like before, the customers see it and a lot of your reps do too. Look around a lot of the reps are miserable and stressed out now. Tenured reps are leaving cause of stress. As I was saying bring integrity back, it's part of the credo.

I worked at Verizon as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interesting technology to work on, it was cool working in Verizon's largest data center. I liked my co workers, I worked with this guy that was super nice and invited me to dinner with his wife.

    Cons

Management expects you to know everything. I believe I was fired because of age discrimination, I was 23 at the time. This was in 2009. Too many meetings. We had meetings every morning and had to talk about the projects we were working on, I never knew what to say because I had just started.

    Advice to Management

Provide a better training program. Less meetings.
