I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, consistent hours, and dicounts.

    Cons

Very corporate and have to put up with a lot of unnecessary corporate world issues. Management is inconsistent. Some managers are terrible without consequence. Some are rude and demeaning. But you get that everywhere. The call center is very unprofessional and filled with drama.

    Advice to Management

Hire great managers. Listen to reviews and skip levels. Encourage the great ones and get rid of the bad ones. Stop letting them treat people like garbage and demote or fire them. Also the year end reviews are horrible. The system is confusing and does not make sense for all positions. You have to make up stuff to put in. Oh, and everyone is always scared they are gonna be hit whenever the next layoff comes around. It's like hunger games corporate edition.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits - pay is only the beginning! Additionally, great health, dental and optical programs, as well as generous vacation and sick leave, tuition assistance and annual bonuses beyond merit increases.

    Cons

Sometimes confused information makes it across departmental lines, leaving customer-facing employees to have incomplete or incorrect information to provide to customers. Additionally, some members of management choose to allow issues to "slide," creating headaches for other employees down the line when customers are sent to escalated levels without need.

    Advice to Management

Actively address concerns that are brought to you. If a group indicates that a lower group is "sluffing off" and sending more work up the ladder unnecessarily, investigate that vigorously. The morale of those who are bringing the concerns depends on it.

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, available training and tuition reimbursement. Many departments to explore.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is difficult. Moving up the ladder or expanding career is difficult. Almost every year there is reorganization. Must be willing to work in a ever-changing environment.

    Advice to Management

Don't focus so much on growth that you lose sight of the important people and things that make VZ what it is. Go back to fundamentals. Although change is inevitable, too much isn't good either and costs money and time.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Time-off options, medical benefits, annual bonuses, money gift incentives, constant education of the wireless industry and innovation. The company is continuously growing.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations of metric goals, politics, favoritism, stressful call center environment. It's very difficult to move on from the call center. The rest of the department's are segregated from each other.

    Advice to Management

The customer survey dispute process needs to be revamped where it's fair to the employees, customer can fail you because they don't get there way with you or the company and its the employee who suffers (i.e. a network ticket is still pending, IT can't fix the switch orders in a timely manner) This makes employees feel that nothing is ever good enough and they caught in a Catch 22 when it comes to customer surveys.

    Pros

Exciting company with many opportunities in the Finance organization given the incredible revenue generating period. Lots of long hours

    Cons

Finance Transformation of 2013 - the desire to shut down locations led to too may jobs moved to headquarters so that no space was available in 2014 requiring people to move to nearby locations - irony
